Indianapolis – The Indianapolis Colts today signed wide receiver Ethan Fernea to the practice squad and released linebacker Austin Ajiake from the practice squad.
Fernea, 6-0, 195 pounds, participated in the Colts' 2024 offseason program and training camp. He was waived-injured by the team on August 14 and reverted to the Injured Reserve list the next day. Fernea was waived from the Injured Reserve list with an injury settlement on August 20. He spent time on the team's active roster and practice squad the last two seasons (2022-23). In 2023, Fernea saw action in three games. As a rookie in 2022, he played in one game. Fernea was originally signed by Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022, out of UCLA. Ajiake, 6-1, 223 pounds, has spent the entire season on the team's practice squad. He was originally signed to Indianapolis' practice squad on December 28, 2023. As a rookie last season, Ajiake spent time on the practice squads of the Colts, Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders. He participated in training camp with the Denver Broncos after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent on August 3, 2023, out of UNLV. His last name is pronounced AH-gee-kay.
