Colts Sign Three Free Agents; Place WR Daurice Fountain, RB D'Onta Foreman on IR; Waive S Derrick Kindred

The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent safety Kai Nacua, free agent running back Charcandrick West and undrafted free agent running back Marquis Young. The team placed running back D’Onta Foreman and wide receiver Daurice Fountain on the Injured Reserve list and waived safety Derrick Kindred.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent safety Kai Nacua, free agent running back Charcandrick West and undrafted free agent running back Marquis Young. The team placed running back D'Onta Foreman and wide receiver Daurice Fountain on the Injured Reserve list and waived safety Derrick Kindred.

Nacua, 6-0, 205 pounds, participated in the Carolina Panthers' 2019 offseason program and training camp before being waived on August 4. In 2018, he spent time on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. As a rookie in 2017, Nacua spent time on the Cleveland Browns' active roster and practice squad. He saw action in all 16 games (three starts) and totaled 13 tackles (11 solo). Nacua originally signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017.

West, 5-10, 205 pounds, has played in 52 career games (11 starts) in his time with the Kansas City Chiefs (2014-18) and has compiled 268 carries for 998 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also tallied 77 receptions for 589 yards and six touchdowns. West has seen action in six postseason contests (two starts) and has recorded 26 carries for 86 yards and one touchdown. He has also caught seven passes for 39 yards. West originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2014.

Young, 5-11, 210 pounds, participated in the Colts' 2019 Rookie Mini-Camp on a tryout basis. He also participated in the Tennessee Titans' 2019 Rookie Mini-Camp on a tryout basis. Collegiately, Young played in 47 games at Massachusetts and compiled 685 carries for 3,631 yards and 29 touchdowns. He caught 98 passes for 671 yards and two touchdowns. Young also tallied 40 kickoff returns for 900 yards and one touchdown. He finished his Minutemen career ranked fifth all-time in rushing yards and carries, tied for sixth in rushing touchdowns and seventh in rushing yards per carry (5.3).

Foreman, 6-1, 235 pounds, was claimed by the Colts off waivers (from Houston) on August 5, 2019. He played in 11 games (one start) in two seasons (2017-18) with the Texans and totaled 85 carries for 326 yards and two touchdowns. Foreman also caught eight passes for 111 yards and one touchdown. He appeared in one postseason contest and registered one carry for three yards.

Fountain, 6-2, 210 pounds, was selected by Indianapolis in the fifth round (159th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he spent time on the team's active roster and practice squad. Fountain saw action in one regular season game and two postseason contests. Collegiately, he played in 52 games (37 starts) at Northern Iowa and totaled 150 receptions for 2,077 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Kindred, 5-10, 208 pounds, was claimed by the Colts off waivers (from Cleveland) on April 2, 2019. He played in 42 games (17 starts) in three seasons (2016-18) with the Browns and totaled 137 tackles (100 solo), 10.0 tackles for loss, 12 passes defensed, two interceptions, one forced fumble and 11 special teams stops.
