INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent running back James Williams and waived defensive end Dadi Nicolas.
Williams, 6-0, 205 pounds, participated in the Kansas City Chiefs' 2019 offseason program before being waived on June 13. He originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2019.
Collegiately, Williams played in 39 games (18 starts) at Washington State and compiled 316 carries for 1,539 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also registered 202 receptions for 1,437 yards and eight touchdowns. Williams finished in the top-five in program history in total touchdowns (fourth), rushing touchdowns (tied for fifth) and receptions (tied for third). He set the single-season school record for receptions by a running back twice, as a sophomore (71 in 2017) and as a junior (83 in 2018), while setting the Pac-12 single-season record for receptions by a running back in 2018. Williams garnered All-Pac-12 honorable mention recognition in 2018.
Nicolas, 6-3, 251 pounds, has played in 11 career games. He previously spent time with the Washington Redskins (2018), Seattle Seahawks (2018) and Kansas City Chiefs (2016-17). Nicolas was originally selected by the Chiefs in the sixth round (203rd overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
