WESTFIELD, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent linebacker Drew Lewis and waived linebacker Tre Thomas.
Lewis, 6-2, 225 pounds, participated in the Houston Texans' 2019 offseason program before being waived on July 23. He was originally signed by the Texans as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2019.
Collegiately, Lewis played in 36 games (18 starts) in three seasons (2016-18) at Colorado and totaled 198 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, one interception and seven passes defensed. He spent one season (2015) at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College and compiled 63 tackles (25 solo), 5.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. As a true freshman in 2014, Lewis redshirted at Washington before transferring.
Thomas, 6-1, 226 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2019. He played in 51 games (24 starts) at Colorado State (2014-18) and totaled 218 tackles (111 solo), 18.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception, six passes defensed and one fumble recovery.
