INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent defensive tackle Johnny Robinson and waived running back James Williams.
Robinson, 6-0, 292 pounds, was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2019, before being waived on May 28. Collegiately, he appeared in 42 games at Charleston Southern and finished with 123 tackles (52 solo), 23.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, two passes defensed and two forced fumbles. Robinson was a two-time First Team All-Big South Conference choice (2017 and 2018).
In 2018, Robinson started all 11 games and registered 37 tackles (16 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. He played in 10 games in 2017 and tallied 35 tackles (17 solo), 12.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and one pass defensed. In 2016, Robinson saw action in 10 games and compiled 35 tackles (14 solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss. He appeared in 11 games (three starts) in 2015 and collected 16 tackles (five solo), 1.5 tackles for loss and one pass defensed.
Williams, 6-0, 205 pounds, was signed by Indianapolis as a free agent on August 20, 2019. He participated in the Kansas City Chiefs' 2019 offseason program before being waived on June 13. Williams originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2019.
