INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts aren't quite done tinkering with their roster heading into Week 1 of the regular season.

The Colts today announced they have claimed former Buffalo Bills cornerback Ryan Lewis off waivers, a day after cutting down their roster to the league-mandated 53 players.

In a corresponding move, the Colts waived cornerback Chris Milton.

The Colts on Sunday also signed the following six players to the practice squad: tackle Jackson Barton, cornerback Jalen Collins, wide receiver Ashton Dulin, guard Jake Eldrenkamp, linebacker Skai Moore and quarterback Phillip Walker.

Lewis, 25, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals following the 2017 NFL Draft, and then spent the 2017 season as a member of the New England Patriots' practice squad.

Lewis was claimed off waivers by the Bills after final cuts last September, and played in seven games with three starts in Buffalo last season, finishing with 13 tackles, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two special teams stops.

His best performance was Week 4 last season against the Green Bay Packers, when he not only led the Buffalo defense with eight tackles, but also forced two fumbles and broke up two passes.

Lewis had six tackles and a pass defensed in four preseason games with the Bills this year.

Collegiately, Lewis played in 51 games at Pittsburgh, and finished with 103 tackles, two interceptions and 10 passes defensed. During the pre-draft process, Lewis showed off his speed with a 4.37-second 40-yard dash.
