INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts today signed tackle Cedrick Lang to the practice squad and released tackle Gerhard de Beer from the practice squad.
Lang, 6-7, 300 pounds, joins the Colts after spending this past offseason with the New England Patriots. He was originally signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016 prior to being released and signed by the Denver Broncos in 2017. Lang spent the majority of the 2017 season on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad and was on the Vikings Injured Reserve list in 2018. Lang began his collegiate career at UTEP on the basketball team, playing four seasons and appearing in 130 games before using his fifth year of eligibility to play football. He appeared in 12 games with one start on the football team and caught 11 passes for 72 yards and one touchdown as a tight end.
de Beer, 6-6, 312 pounds, spent this past offseason with the Green Bay Packers prior to being released at the start of the season. He was originally signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018. de Beer spent the first week of the 2018 campaign on the Bills practice squad before being released and spending the last five weeks of the season on the Packers practice squad.
