INDIANAPOLIS —The Indianapolis Colts today signed safety Khari Willis and cornerback Marvell Tell III.
The Colts have now signed seven of their 10 draft picks from the 2019 NFL Draft.
Willis, 5-11, 213 pounds, was selected by the Colts in the fourth round (109th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He appeared in 46 games (30 starts) at Michigan State and totaled 196 tackles (98 solo), 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, 20 passes defensed, four interceptions and one forced fumble. As a team captain in 2018, Willis started all 13 games and finished with 84 tackles (41 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, 10 passes defensed and two interceptions. He was a Third Team All-Big Ten choice (media) and also earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten recognition (coaches). Willis started all 13 games in 2017 and totaled 71 tackles (39 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, three passes defensed, two interceptions and one forced fumble. He garnered Honorable Mention All-Big Ten recognition from the coaches and the media. In 2016, Willis played in 11 games (one start) and recorded 30 tackles (16 solo) and two passes defensed. He ranked second on the team with six tackles on special teams. Willis appeared in nine games (three starts) in 2015 and tallied 11 tackles (two solo) and one pass defensed.
Tell III, 6-2, 195 pounds, was selected by Indianapolis in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 37 games (29 starts) at USC and recorded 221 tackles (127 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, 18 passes defensed, five interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. As a team captain in 2018, Tell III was an All-Pac-12 honorable mention choice after appearing in 10 games and tallying 57 tackles (39 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, six passes defensed, one interception, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. He was a First Team All-Pac-12 selection in 2017 after starting all 14 games and finishing with 85 tackles (42 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, five passes defensed, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and one fumble recovery. In 2016, Tell III started all 13 games and recorded 43 tackles (27 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss, three passes defensed and one interception. As a true freshman in 2015, he saw action in 10 games (two starts) and tallied 36 tackles (19 solo), 1.0 tackle for loss and four passes defensed.
