Colts select Kansas State running back D.J. Giddens in fifth round of 2025 NFL Draft

Giddens rushed for over 1,200 yards in each of the last two seasons and finished his college career with 27 total touchdowns.

The Colts added to their running back room in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting Kansas State's D.J. Giddens with the No. 151 overall pick on Saturday.

The 6-foot, 212 pound Giddens appeared in 39 games (25 starts) with Kansas State and rushed for 3,087 yards on 517 carries (6.0 yards/attempt) with 23 rushing touchdowns; Giddens added 58 receptions for 679 yards with four receiving scores as well.

Giddens in 2024 rushed for a career-high 1,343 yards on 205 carries (6.6 yards/attempt) with eight total touchdowns. He rushed for over 100 yards in seven games – including back-to-back 180-plus yard games against Oklahoma State and Colorado – and earned second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2024.

In 2023, Giddens rushed for a career high 10 touchdowns with 1,226 yards on 223 carries (5.5 yards/attempt).

Giddens debuted in 2022 with 518 yards on 89 carries with six touchdowns.

The 21-year-old Giddens ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine earlier this year. Giddens is a native of Junction City, Kansas.

With the Colts, Giddens will join a running back room headlined by Pro Bowler Jonathan Taylor that also includes 2023 undrafted free agent Tyler Goodson, 2025 free agent signing Khalil Herbert and returning practice squad player Salvon Ahmed.
