Through the first six rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Colts developed a trend in some of the traits their picks possessed. One of the most noticeable ones that emerged was the versatility of their selections – and that didn't change with the Colts' final selection of the night.
In selecting Wisconsin linebacker Hunter Wohler, the Colts took a strong, smart player with experience playing both as a safety and a linebacker. He appeared in a total of 43 games (25 starts), totaling 229 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, three interceptions, 16 passes defensed and two sacks. He also played special teams in his time as a Badger.
"Being able to do as many things as I did in Wisconsin, I think it just gives me all the tools to be ready to jump in with Indy and do whatever I can to help get some wins," Wohler said. "I loved being able to be all over the field and have a lot of different jobs and a lot of different responsibilities. So, I loved it. I was able to do a little bit of everything, and I think it only makes me more prepared for this next step in my journey."
Wohler knows the expectation for him as a rookie will be to contribute primarily on special teams, and he's fully embraced that. He's someone who's used to winning – whether it's state championships in high school or primetime Big Ten games in college – and is willing to do whatever it takes to get there.
"That's how you're going to find your way on a roster," Wohler said about special teams. "So I can't wait. That's where the money is going to be made."
