The Colts agreed to terms with free agent safety Cam Bynum, bolstering their secondary with the durable 26-year-old former fourth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings.
The 6-foot, 200 pound Bynum appeared in 65 games (54 starts) for the Vikings from 2021-2024, totaling eight interceptions, 20 pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, 342 tackles, five tackles for a loss and 1 1/2 sacks. Bynum started all 17 games in each of the last three seasons with Minnesota.
Bynum set a career high with 10 passes defensed in 2024, including three interceptions, and totaled 96 tackles. In 2023, Bynum forced three fumbles and racked up 137 tackles – the fifth-most any safety has had over the last decade. Nick Cross, who is entering his fourth year with the Colts, totaled 146 tackles (fourth-most) in 2024.
Bynum became a full-time starter in 2022 and played 100 percent of the Vikings' defensive snaps, picking off two passes with 81 tackles.
The Vikings selected Bynum in the fourth round (No. 126 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. Bynum also appeared in two playoff games with the Vikings, totaling 10 tackles in those games.
