CLASS 6A

PENN (12-0) AT CARMEL (8-4)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EST, Greyhound Stadium.

COACHES: Cory Yeoman, 154-29 in 14th season at Penn. John Hebert, 18-7 in second season at Carmel.

LAST CONTEST: Penn beat Crown Point, 23-0. Carmel beat Homestead, 42-7.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Penn, 16-10, on November 13, 2015 in northern semistate.

AT STAKE: Penn is trying for its 12th semistate and second in a row. Carmel has won 10 times, but none since 2014.

QUICK FACTS: Penn has scored 35 or more points six times. Carmel has allowed 14 or fewer points four times.

CENTER GROVE (11-1) AT BEN DAVIS (9-3)

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EST, Giants Stadium.

COACHES: Eric Moore, 172-55 in 18th season at Center Grove, 220-60 in 22nd season overall. Mike Kirschner, 81-35 in 10th season at Ben Davis, 95-61 in 14th season overall.

LAST CONTEST: Center Grove beat Warren Central, 28-7. Ben Davis beat Indianapolis Cathedral, 51-21.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Center Grove, 20-7, on September 9, 2016.

AT STAKE: Center Grove is in pursuit of its second straight semistate and fourth overall. Ben Davis has captured 10 titles, but not since 2014.

QUICK FACTS: Center Grove is appearing in the semistate for the sixth year in a row. The seven points Ben Davis scored earlier in the season against Center Grove is the only time it has been limited to single digits in the last three years.

CLASS 5A

FORT WAYNE SNIDER (12-0) AT WESTFIELD (10-2)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EST, Riverview Health Stadium

COACHES: Kurt Tippmann, 86-19 in eighth season at Fort Wayne Snider. Jake Gilbert, 44-27 in sixth season at Westfield, 74-63 in 12th season overall.

LAST CONTEST: Fort Wayne Snider beat Mishawaka, 31-7. Westfield beat Kokomo, 45-7.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Fort Wayne Snider, 32-24, on November 14, 2014 in regional final.

AT STAKE: Fort Wayne Snider is going for its second semistate in a row and eight overall. Westfield has won two times, but none since 2013.

QUICK FACTS: Snider has not had a losing season since going 5-6 in 1989. Westfield has surrendered eight or fewer points five times.

COLUMBUS EAST (12-1) AT BLOOMINGTON SOUTH (11-1)

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EST, Huff Field.

COACHES: Bob Gaddis, 171-32 in 16th season at Columbus East, 289-132 in 38th season overall. Mo Moriarity, 180-42 in 19th season at Bloomington South, 284-83 in 31st season overall.

LAST CONTEST: Columbus East beat Zionsville, 42-35. Bloomington South beat Castle, 44-23.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Bloomington South 35-13, on October 25, 1991 in sectional opener.

AT STAKE: Columbus East' lone semistate came in 2013. Bloomington South has won three times, but not since 1998.

QUICK FACTS: Columbus East has lost its last three road semistate contests. Former NFL quarterback Rex Grossman was at the controls the last time Bloomington South won a semistate game in 1998. 

CLASS 4A

NORTHWOOD (13-0) AT LOWELL (9-4)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EST, The Inferno.

COACHES: Nate Andrews, 27-9 in third season at NorthWood, 67-48 in 10th season overall. Keith Kilmer, 51-28 in seventh season at Lowell.

LAST CONTEST: NorthWood beat New Haven, 52-28. Lowell beat Hobart, 44-23.

PREVIOUS MEETING: None.

AT STAKE: NorthWood has captured five semistate title, but none since 2005. Lowell has won three times, but not since 2009.

QUICK FACTS: Despite going 3-6 in the regular season, NorthWood still managed to win the 2005 Class 3A state championship. Lowell is 3-0 in home semistate games.

INDIANAPOLIS RONCALLI (13-0) AT EAST CENTRAL (11-2)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EST, Trojan Field.

COACHES: Bruce Scifres, 246-88 in 27th season at Indianapolis Roncalli. Justin Roden, 35-16 in fourth season at East Central.

LAST CONTEST: Indianapolis Roncalli beat Delta, 42-7. East Central beat Evansville Reitz, 33-27.

PREVIOUS MEETING: East Central, 21-0, on November 12, 2015 in semistate final.

AT STAKE: Indianapolis Roncalli has won 11 semistates, but not since 2005. East Central is trying for its second straight and fourth overall.

QUICK FACTS: Roncalli appeared in four consecutive state championship games between 2002 and 2005. East Central has tallied 30 or more points nine times.

CLASS 3A

FORT WAYNE CONCORDIA (11-2) AT GARRETT (12-1)

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EST, Memorial Field.

COACHES: Tim Mannigel, 32-45 in seventh season at Fort Wayne Concordia. Chris DePew, 40-17 in fifth season at Garrett, 117-59 in 16th season overall.

LAST CONTEST: Fort Wayne Concordia beat West Lafayette, 62-27. Garrett beat Mishawaka Marian, 31-28.

PREVIOUS MEETING: None.

AT STAKE: Fort Wayne Concordia and Garrett are both looking for its first semistate championship.

QUICK FACTS: Concordia has never hosted a semistate game before. Garrett is 4-0 in games determined by three points or less, including two in a row (Jimtown and Marian).

BROWNSTOWN CENTRAL (12-1) AT LAWRENCEBURG (12-1)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EST, Neary Field.

COACHES: Reed May, 240-47 in 24th season at Brownstown Central. Ryan Knigga, 49-20 in sixth season at Lawrenceburg.

LAST CONTEST: Brownstown Central beat Evansville Memorial, 30-7. Lawrenceburg beat Danville, 37-20.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Brownstown Central, 14-7, on October 30, 2009 in sectional semifinal.

AT STAKE: Brownstown Central has never celebrated a semistate championship. Lawrenceburg is trying to make it back to the winner's circle for the first time since 1985.

QUICK FACTS: Brownstown Central previous two semistate appearances were in Class 2A. Lawrenceburg has won 10 straight home games dating back to last season.

CLASS 2A

EASTBROOK (12-1) AT WHITING (12-1)

KICKOFF: 8:30 p.m. EST, Gallivan Stadium.

COACHES: Jeff Adamson, 241-82 in 28th season at Eastbrook. Jeff Cain, 176-78 in 23rd season at Whiting.

LAST CONTEST: Eastbrook beat South Adams, 28-21. Whiting beat Winamac, 55-14.

PREVIOUS MEETING: None.

AT STAKE: Eastbrook's only semistate came in 2004. Whiting is looking to make it back-to-back appearances in the title game.

QUICK FACTS: Eastbrook has limited its opponents to seven or fewer points five times. Whiting's 21-0 loss to Hanover Central was the first time the Oilers had been blanked since the 2011 campaign.

MONROVIA (9-4) AT INDIANAPOLIS CARDINAL RITTER (9-4)

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EST, Marian University.

COACHES: Kevin Hutchins, 71-31 in eighth season at Monrovia, 88-64 in 13th season overall. Ty Hunt, 115-30 in 11th season at Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter.

LAST CONTEST: Monrovia beat Evansville Mater Dei, 35-28. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter beat Milan, 40-6.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Monrovia, 18-17, on August 19, 2016.

AT STAKE: Monrovia is in pursuit of its second consecutive trip to Lucas Oil Stadium and third semistate overall. Cardinal Ritter has made nine trips to the state finals, but not since 2013.

QUICK FACTS: Monrovia is looking to go 2-0 on the road in semistate contests. Since starting 0-3, Cardinal Ritter has won nine of its last 10 games, including eight in a row.

CLASS 1A

PIONEER (13-0) AT ADAMS CENTRAL (12-1)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EST, Jets Stadium.

COACHES: Adam Berry, 13-0 in first season at Pioneer. Michael Mosser, 58-35 in eighth season at Adams Central.

LAST CONTEST: Pioneer beat Lafayette Central Catholic, 28-27. Adams Central beat Southwood, 23-7.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Pioneer, 42-19, on November 21, 1997 in semistate.

AT STAKE: Pioneer is going for its third semistate and first since 2014. Adams Central's lone semistate title came in 2000.

QUICK FACTS: Pioneer snapped a seven-game losing streak to Lafayette Central Catholic last week. Adams Central is hosting its fourth consecutive semistate game.

INDIANAPOLIS LUTHERAN (10-3) AT LINTON-STOCKTON (13-0)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EST, Williams Field.

COACHES: Dave Pasch, 65-42 in ninth season at Indianapolis Lutheran, 130-99 in 20th season overall. Brian Oliver, 50-5 in fourth season at Linton-Stockton.

LAST CONTEST: Indianapolis Lutheran beat Fountain Central, 48-19. Linton-Stockton beat Eastern Greene, 56-7.

PREVIOUS MEETING: None.

AT STAKE: Indianapolis Lutheran is looking for its trip to the title game. Linton-Stockton is trying for its second straight semistate crown.

QUICK FACTS: Lutheran is averaging 55.5 points over its first four playoff games. Linton-Stockton is giving up an average of 10.8 points in the playoffs.
