Quarterback Anthony Richardson (back) did not participate in the Colts' practice on Thursday ahead of their season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Richardson was ruled out for the Colts' Week 17 game against the New York Giants due to a back injury and has not participated in practice since Week 16. The quarterback has started a total of 11 games this season.
On Wednesday, Richardson said he was feeling better than last week and was going to do everything he could to get on the field for the Colts' final game of the 2024 season. Head coach Shane Steichen also said Wednesday he was hopeful Richardson would be able to return, and that they would "see how the week progresses."
If Richardson is unable to play on Sunday, backup quarterback Joe Flacco is prepared to take over under center. The 17-year veteran said he is taking things day-by-day and preparing like he always would, whether he's starting or not.
"I think that's what you always do," Flacco said Wednesday. "I think even when you're not (starting) and you know you're not, you still try to put yourself in that mindset and do those things anyway."
Flacco has appeared in seven games (five starts) this season, most recently starting in the Colts' Week 17 loss to the Giants in which Flacco completed 26 of 38 passes for 330 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Across all games played this season, Flacco has completed 66.8 percent of his passes for 1,497 yards with 11 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a passer rating of 91.4.
