We are going to have to eliminate mistakes in special teams and take great care of the football. Defensively, we will have to tackle their skilled kids well in space." – Mishawaka's Keith Kinder.

"We have to be able to slow down their offensive attack. We have to limit the amount of possessions they have by sustaining our own offensive drives. We also have to take advantage of scoring opportunities. We are not going to be able to beat them by kicking field goals, we have to score touchdowns. This gives us the best opportunity to win on Friday." – Hobart's Craig Osika.

COACH TALK: "Culver Academy is a tremendous team. They have great team speed. They fly to the ball well on defense and execute well on offense. We need to stay on blocks, limit negative plays, and take care of the ball. Our defense needs to communicate, be physical, and not give up big plays." – Angola's Andy Thomas.

"In order for Culver Academies to advance in the playoffs this Friday, we must continue to play stellar defense. Angola features a potent offense loaded with playmakers. Offensively, our focus is to control the football, eliminating penalties, and taking a few shots to get the ball in the end zone. Another key component to this game will be special teams. Controlling field position will be a critical component to determining the outcome of this game. Both teams feature a strong defense, therefore we believe it will take three touchdowns to win this football game." – Culver Academy's Andy Dorrel.

Heisman Skeens and Cade Campbell are two outstanding football players, so it will be a major challenge for our defense to try and contain them. "We must be prepared to play a physical football game Friday night vs. an outstanding Western Panther football team. They play a great schedule and offensively move the ball on everyone, so we need to try to limit their possessions the best we can." – Knox's John Hendryx.

"Knox is a well-coached, very physical football team. Under Coach Hendrix, they bring multiple offensive formations and various defensive fronts. We'll have to take care of the ball and match their physicality if we want to come out on top this week." – Jimtown's Mike Campbell.

NORTH NEWTON (6-3) AT WHITING (9-0)

TOP PERFORMERS: Alex Goetz registered four rushes for 83 yards for the Spartans against Tri-County. Joel Torres came up with nine tackles for the Oilers against River Forest.

COACH TALK: "We will need to be able to run the ball effectively and be able to stop the run. I believe if we are able to do those two things, we will have a shot at coming out on top. Of course, accomplishing this will not be easy. They are a very well-coached team with outstanding talent. I do, however, look forward to this test." – North Newton's Scott Rouch.

"North Newton poses many problems on the offensive side. They feature a back, fullback Colin Wagner, with over 1,200 yards rushing, but also use their wings and quarterback (Ben Vanderwall) to carry out the rest of their running game. All three of their other ball carriers are very good, so we will need to reduce their big plays. Defensively, they get after it, so we will need to match their level to be successful. Their middle linebacker (Wagner) is a playmaker, so we will need to do our job when blocking him. Their defensive line is a strength of theirs and we will need to win those battles." – Whiting's Jeff Cain.

CLASS 2A SECTIONAL 34

WOODLAN (4-5) AT BREMEN (7-2)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Don Bunge Field.

TOP PERFORMERS: Sebastian Spieth scampered 22 times for 89 yards for the Warriors against Adams Central. Nathan Mullen rambled 15 times for 49 yards for the Lions against Culver Academy.

COACH TALK: "Bremen and us are much alike. We're both big and physical. We both run and stop the run very well. I believe the quarterbacks will decide the outcome." – Woodlan's Sherwood Haydock.

"Controlling the line of scrimmage will be important as to who advances in our sectional game. Defensively, we will need to be physical against their run and disciplined in our pass coverage. They are a good running football team with the ability to hurt you through the air as well. Offensively, we will need to control the clock and keep their offense off the field. Their defense is very good at getting pressure in the backfield and disrupting what you want to do. We will need to handle that pressure to give us a shot at putting points on the board." – Bremen's Jordan Leeper.

CLASS 2A SECTIONAL 35

DELPHI (9-0) AT RENSSELAER CENTRAL (5-4)

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Harrison Complex.

COACH TALK: "Rensselaer is a program built on winning, especially in the post-season. Coach Meeks has done a tremendous job building for the post-season and we must be ready to play at a high level in order to compete in an atmosphere that we will see on Friday. Obviously, Rensselaer has an outstanding offense with several playmakers which makes them difficult to defend. Rensselaer is also very capable of handling their own with their passing game. Our main objective defensively would be to limit their big play ability. Rensselaer is a pressure-oriented defense with talented athletes that are very capable of covering space. In order to be successful offensively, we must be efficient, limit our mistakes, and be successful on third downs." – Delphi's Josh Strasser.

"Delphi is a tremendous team as proven by their perfect regular season. They are very athletic with their skill players and have some nice size up front. They are very well-coached and are playing with a lot of confidence. For us to be successful, we will need to keep their offense from getting the big play. Watching film on them, their quarterback (Seth Waters) does a nice job of distributing the football to their athletes in space. Offensively, we need to sustain long drives and keep their offense off the field. They are very aggressive defensively, so there should be ample opportunities to hit some play action passes. We are looking forward to a great game." – Rensselaer Central's Chris Meeks.

COACH TALK: "They are very well-coached and play very hard. They are very disciplined. Churubusco is also a very tough place to play. We are excited for the opportunity at the chance to knockoff our third ranked team of the season. We will have to eliminate turnovers and penalties and our defense will have to play very well." – South Adams' Grant Moser.

"South Adams has a lot of weapons on both sides of the ball. They are young, but their sophomores play like experienced varsity standouts, particularly quarterback James Arnold and tight end-defensive end Nick Miller. We are going to have to be disciplined mentally and play a physical football game to be able to compete with them." – Churubusco's Paul Sade.

KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. EDT, Saturday, Avon High School.

COACH TALK: "We are excited about the opportunity to compete in the first sectional game in our program's history. We are playing a great opponent in Covenant Christian, who is very well-coached. For us to be successful, we will need to execute at a high level, and keep them off-balance on defense. We must protect the ball, and slow down their strong pass rush. Defensively, we must stop No. 19 (Jonah Bronger), who is a great player. Hopefully we will conduct ourselves in the highest manner of sportsmanship and leave it all on the field." – Traders Point Christian's Adam Stevenson.

"It will require a total team effort to contain their prolific offense by forcing them into a long field and a much better offensive effort then in our first game against them. Their defense is playing extremely well, so we will need to find some ways to score." – Covenant Christian's Larry McWhorter.

CLASS 1A SECTIONAL 47

FOUNTAIN CENTRAL (6-3) AT ATTICA (6-3)

KICKOFF: 7 p.m. EDT, Bruce Field.

TOP PERFORMERS: Walker Hands recorded five receptions for 27 yards and a score for the Mustangs against Parke Heritage. Drew Sheridan raced 23 times for 87 yards for the Red Ramblers against South Vermillion.

COACH TALK: "For us to beat Attica and continue on, we must try to contain their quarterback (Eli Kirkpatrick) since he ran all over us the last time we played. We will need to match their intensity and aggressiveness. The last time we played, they took it to us. Their defense flies to the ball, so we must be able to counter that with us playing faster on offense. We changed a lot of things after that loss, so we will see if those changes benefited us or not. Playoff football means we don't have time for the simple mistakes. We have to play together, understand the plan, and execute." – Fountain Central's Ryan Hall.

"We will have to play solid defense and compete with their bigger linemen as well as keeping an eye on their different offensive weapons. Offensively, we will need to be consistent and keep moving the chains." – Attica's Ryan Good.
