2013 IFD HONOR ROLL – WEEK ONE

In the state's oldest rivalry dating back to 1903, Crown Point captured the Old Leather Helmet for the fourth year in a row with a 16-14 victory over Lowell. Quarterback Jake Jattis tossed for 219 yards and two scores for the Bulldogs. Running back George Fields ran the football 33 times for 199 yards and two touchdowns for the Red Devils.
Greg Peppers' 65-yard interception return for a touchdown helped pave the way for LaVille to post its first shutout since 2009 with a 31-0 blanking of South Central. It was also the first triumph for new Lancers' coach Will Hostrawser.
Zach Brassell ran 158 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries, leading New Prairie to a 48-7 thrashing of LaPorte. Brassell also threw for 85 yards (4-of-7) and a scoring strike. Tyler Weller rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown and caught a pass for another tally for the Cougars, who accumulated over 400 total yards of offense.
Purdue recruit Drue Tranquill ran for two touchdowns, caught a pass for another score, and threw a touchdown in Fort Wayne Carroll's 55-0 blanking of Goshen.
After missing last season with a knee injury, F.W. Bishop Dwenger's Mike Fiacable enjoyed a triumphant return in the Saints' 24-14 win over F.W. South. The senior quarterback completed 20-of-30 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a third tally.
Kyle Castner was 15-of-26 passing for 274 yards and three touchdowns as Ben Davis edged Indianapolis Cathedral, 26-20, in the Horseshoe Classic at Lucas Oil Stadium. Chris Evans hauled in four passes for 101 yards and two scores for the Giants. Cathedral signal caller Collin Barthel ran for two touchdowns and completed 18-of-26 passes for 174 yards and one tally.
Chris Ford tallied nearly 200 total yards, good for four touchdowns, helping Hamilton Southeastern down Avon, 28-7. Ford had 10 carries for 90 yards and two scores and caught two touchdown passes from Tyler Janney, equaling 99 yards. Janney finished 5-of-10 for 178 yards and two scores for the Royals. Brandon Peters tossed for 179 yards and one touchdown for the Orioles.
Michael Hartman rambled 16 times for 103 yards and a touchdown in Plymouth's 34-13 win over Bremen. Sophomore quarterback Jack Barron completed 5-of-7 passes for 157 yards and one score, and Dakota Brooke added four catches for 118 yards, one touchdown catch and one rushing score for the Rockies.
Rahju Blackmon's two intereptions helped F.W. Snider earn a 34-12 win over F.W. Bishop Luers. Jibri Bramley paced the Panthers' offense with 90 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Noah Wezensky passed for 117 yards and one score for the Knights.
Tristan McClone proved to be a workhorse in Warsaw's 33-14 triumph over Columbia City with 38 carries for 217 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Travis Herbst threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns for Columbia City.
Aaron Austin carried the football 24 times for 235 yards and five touchdowns, leading Franklin Central to a 58-50 victory over Decatur Central. Corey Durm completed 9-of-15 passes for 196 yards and four scores and ran seven times for 53 yards for the Flashes. Robi Ford added two touchdown catches for Franklin Central. Tommy Stevens was 12-of-23 for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and Eli Conklin added eight rushes for 110 yards and one score for Decatur Central. Dakota Sidwell ran for two touchdowns, and Ryker Stout chipped in eight receptions for 110 yards and two scores for the Hawks.
Jordan Hissong rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns and passed for a third score in Leo's 42-6 triumph over Norwell.
Latavion Guy's 54-yard interception return for a touchdown helped F.W. North post a 26-19 win over F.W. Concordia. David Morrison threw for 263 yards and pair of scores to Jon Poore for Concordia.
Malcolm Marshall rolled up more than 200 yards in offense, helping Bluffton coast to a 39-13 win over Northfield. Marshall passed for 162 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 56 yards and another tally. D'Wayne Eskridge added two receptions for scores for the Tigers.
Jake Reed went 10-of-19 for 207 yards and two touchdowns in Indianapolis Lutheran's 29-16 win over Beech Grove. Reed also had two rushes for 50 yards and one score.
Nick Brown completed 8-of-10 passes for104 yards and three touchdowns in Indian Creek's 47-0 blanking of Knightstown. Gynson Robley was 5-of-8 through the air for 139 yards for the Braves. Dokken Egenolf had eight carries for 104 yards and one score, and Brenden Smith chipped in three touchdown catches in the triumph.
Cody Conwell racked up 225 yards rushing and three touchdowns, leading Churubusco to a 56-0 blanking of Fremont in Northeast Corner Conference action. Kane Johnson added 109 yards on the ground and two scores, while Logan Harris tallied two touchdowns and an interception for the Eagles.
Jaylin Bennett rambled for 242 yards and a touchdown in Woodlan's 43-18 thrashing of Bellmont. Corbin Smith tossed a pair of touchdown passes for the Warriors.
Junior back Noah Smith tallied 188 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 27 carries, helping Hobart to a 47-34 win over Gary West. Drey Devereaux chipped in 12 carries for 180 yards and one score, while Andrew Barras added two touchdowns as the Brickies racked up 415 total yards. Gary West quarterback Ramone Atkins was 23-of-280 for 280 yards and five touchdowns for Gary West. Jon'Vea Johnson hauled in 11 passes for 124 yards and three scores, and Lonnie Johnson added nine catches for 119 yards and two tallies for the Cougars.
Harold Wolfe passed for 125 yards and three touchdowns and ran for two more scores in East Noble's 43-14 win over F.W. Northrop. Brandon Mable chipped in 115 yards rushing and one score for the Knights.
Payton Young found the end zone twice as Lewis Cass blanked Pioneer, 29-0. It was the largest margin of victory in the series in which Pioneer now holds a 5-2 lead. Gabe Welch ran for 113 yards, and Owen Ohman passed and ran for scores for the Kings.
Hayes Barnes was 17-of-26 through the air for 204 yards and two touchdowns in Culver Military Academy's 36-29 decision over Tippecanoe Valley. Tanner Andrews had five catches for 116 yards and one touchdown and also rushed for 71 yards and a score for Tippy Valley. Ben Shriver added 211 yards through the air and one score for the Vikings.
Cosmo Dison booted a pair of field goals (22 and 28 yards) as Elkhart Central blanked rival Elkhart Memorial, 13-0, to gain possession of the Mangy Lion Trophy for the second straight year. The Blazers limited Memorial to just 52 total yards of offense.
Cooper Hill threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns, leading Adams Central to a 54-7 win over Blackford. Steohen Eicher added 108 yards rushing and two scores for the Flying Jets.
Tyler Katschke rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns, helping Winamac breeze to a 56-14 win over Knox. Parker Fox added 113 yards passing and one score and 79 yards rushing and one tally for the Warriors. Winamac kicker Zach Markley established a new school best by converting all eight of his extra-point attempts.
Beau Boswell had pair of interceptions in Rensselaer's 20-6 win over Kankakee Valley in the battle for the Cracker Barrel. Luke Robertson added a pair of field goals (35 and 29 yards) and Dylan Wright scored two touchdowns for the Bombers, who were mobbed as the student body stormed Harrison Field.
Erik Beckman rolled up almost 300 total yards and four touchdowns in North Judson's 25-7 triumph over Glenn. Beckman rushed the ball 26 times for 227 yards and three scores and caught two passes for 62 yards and another tally to help new coach Kirk Kennedy earn his first win with the Bluejays.
Senior Bryant Isabell scored on runs of 64, 54, and 31 yards in Merrillville's 41-7 win over South Bend Clay. Isabell finished with 16 carries for 187 yards, while sophomore Shawn Streck chipped in six tackles for losses for the Pirates.
Quarterback Matt Monserez scored from one yard out in the closing minute help S.B, St. Joseph rally for a 22-17 win over Chesterton. Monserez finished 20-of-28 through the air for 288 yards and two scores in the contest which had no turnovers.
Future Notre Dame product Justin Brent had 180 yards rushing and four touchdowns as Speedway beat Lapel, 42-13. Shannon Hill added 186 yards on the ground and two scores for the Sparkplugs. Brady Cherry was 18-of-38 for 192 yards and two touchdowns for Lapel.
William Kelly tossed for 230 yards and three touchdowns, lifting Lakeland to 27-12 win over Prairie Heights. Marco Olivares connected on field goals of 44 and 42 yards for the Lakers, who accumulated more than 400 total yards.
Jacob Howdeshell had 22 rushes for 112 yards and two scores in Rochester's 16-13 win over Eastbrook.
Cameron Kitson ran for 111 yards and two scores, helping Fairfield post a 35-21 victory over Central Noble. Kyle Mast added two touchdowns for the Falcons. Brock Noe rushed for two scores and passed for a third tally for the Cougars, who have dropped 26 straight contests.
Hunter Holliday and Parker Fritz both went over the 100-yard mark in rushing in West Central's 18-6 triumph at Culver Community. Holliday had 15 carries for 129 yards and Fritz tallied 112 yards and one score on 17 attempts. Preston Hansel rambled for 173 yards and one score for Culver.
Munster coach Leroy Marsh earned his 200th victory with the Mustangs' 27-9 win over Lake Central. Brian Rice led the Lake Central defense with 13 tackles and a fumble recovery, while Jesse Ruiz and Walter Dahlkamp chipped in 11 tackles apiece. The Indians lost quarterback Alex Olund, who suffered a broken hand in the contest.
Sophomore Jacob Maple ran for 121 yards and a score and hauled in four catches for 74 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown catch, in Plainfield's 34-32 win at Columbus North. Senior Josh Miller added six rushes for 107 yards and one score, and quarterback Brady Nichols was 10-of-15 through the air for 135 yards and two tallies for the Quakers. Signal caller Michael Vogel accumulated 333 yards of total offense, 158 yards rushing and one score and 175 yards passing and three tallies, for the Bulldogs. Weston Moore added five catches for 93 yards and two tallies for Columbus North, which finished with 502 total yards.
Junior quarterback Gage Reinhard was 10-of-15 for 218 yards and two touchdowns in Wawasee's 42-20 win over Whitko. Brandin McCulloch added 17 carries for 121 yards and two scores as the Warriors allowed new coach Josh Ekovich to celebrate his first victory. Clayton Cook chipped in two scores, including a 95-yard kickoff return, for Wawasee, while Ethan Nicodemus paced the Wildcats with 20 rushes for 144 yards and two tallies.
Grant Stichter thre a pair of touchdown passes as Triton downed Caston, 25-13. It was the first win for new Trojans' coach John Johns.
P.J. Dean accounted for more than 300 total yards and five touchdowns in Eastside's 46-22 win over Garrett. Dean ran for 277 yards and four scores and also caught a 29-yard pass for another tally. Freshman Trevor Jokoty booted a 48-yard field goal for the Blazers, and Byrit Sumner ran for 144 yards and two touchdowns for Garrett.
Alec Pettit netted 93 yards on the ground and two scores as Greencastle posted a 54-21 win over Monrovia. Trevor Ellis accounted for over 200 all-purpose yards for Monrovia.
Tyler Carpenter ran for 102 yards and one touchdown and Khalil Fleming added two scores on the ground to pave the way in Penn's 49-7 win over Valparaiso. Central Michigan bound quarterback Zach Oakley rushed for 74 yards and two scores on 10 attempts and threw for 63 yards as the visiting Kingsmen improved to 9-0 in season openers at Viking Field.
In New Haven's 61-21 drubbing of Heritage, Airiest Vasquez rambled for 128 yards and four touchdowns. Jordan Hogue added seven catches for 147 yards and three scores from Vance Shearer, who was 8-of-16 for 161 yards for the Bulldogs. Brandon Dossen threw for 346 yards and one score, and Conner Blake had four receptions for 107 yards for the Patriots.
Austin Hooker rolled up more than 200 total yards in Tipton's 28-7 decision over top-ranked (Class 3A) Hamilton Heights. Hooker had 149 yards rushing and three touchdowns and passed for 55 yards. Nate Hein chipped in 114 yards on the ground and one score for the Blue Devils. Grant Weatherford had 10.5 tackles to go along with two receptions for 44 yards and one score for the Huskies. Jay McKinney chipped in 10 tackles for Hamilton Heights.
Junior signal caller Nolan Ahrens completed 13-of-17 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns as Jasper rallied from a 19-0 deficit to claim a 59-29 win over Evansville Memorial. Sophomore Will Durchholz was 15-of-24 through the air for three scores, and McKinley Warren added three catches for 99 yards and one tally for Memorial.
Malin Webb threw a pair of touchdown passes to Chandler Roberts in South Spencer's 20-14 victory over North Posey. It was the coaching debut for South Spencer's Tom Packer of Paul Rynkewich of North Posey.
Ricky Brookins finished with 22 carries for 172 yards and three touchdowns as Terre Haute North scored 21 points off turnovers in a 44-14 win over Castle in the Horseshoe Classic at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Junior Chase Whitler had six catches for 212 yards in Evansville's North's 37-20 win over Terre Haute South at Bundrant Stadium. Whitler, who had two scores, is now second on the Huskies' all-time single-game receiving yardage list behind John Grimmer's 247 yards receiving against Jeffersonville in 1998.
Will Kirkwood went 14-of-19 through the air for 164 yards and two touchdowns, helping NorthWood to a 21-20 victory over Jimtown. Tanner Cleveland added a touchdown catch and run for the Panthers. Nik Olson rushed for 135 yards and two scores for the Jimmies, who had a missed extra-point in the closing minute.
Cody Crace scored a pair of touchdowns, including a 47-yard kickoff return, in Indiana Deaf's 38-0 blanking of Traders Point. Preston Kelly passed for 117 yards and two scores, and Zack Kremer ran 11 times for 105 yards and two tallies for the winners.
Kenyotta Rollins returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, leading Portage to a 20-7 triumph over Mishawaka. The Cavemen, who were Class 4A state runner-up in 2012, were hampered by five turnovers, including four fumbles.
Senior quarterback Trevor Wilmore put his arm and legs to good use by accumulating more than 200 total yards and five touchdowns in Concord's 42-6 thrashing of S.B. Washington. Wilmore was 7-of-14 passing for 135 yards and two scores and also ran for 84 yards and three tallies. Jarrell Poindexter added a touchdown catch and a 45-yard punt return for another score for the Minutemen.
LeVante' Bellamy rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns as Brebeuf Jesuit surprised three-time defending Class 3A state champion Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, 22-17. Bellamy also recorded four receptions for 23 yards as the Braves beat Bishop Chatard for the first time since 1976. Running back Alex Kimack ran for 244 yards and two touchdowns in for the Trojans.
Noblesville quarterback T.C. McKiernan threw for 226 yards (17-of-24) and rushed for another 150 yards on 19 carries in the Millers' 27-24 upset of Fishers. Mitch Krum added seven receptions for 115 yards and one score for Noblesville. Connor Christiansen tossed for 252 yards (14-of-28) and two touchdowns and rushed nine times for 57 yards and another tally for Fishers. Harvey Allen ran for two scores, and J-Shun Harris hauled in seven passes for 144 yards and one touchdown for the Tigers.
Elvin Caldwell and Frank Grimes scored two touchdowns apiece, helping Westfield post a 42-13 win over Harrison (West Lafayette). Caldwell ran for 99 yards, Grimes added 78 yards, and Nick Ferrer completed 14-of-19 passes for 150 yards and one score for the Shamrocks, who handed Harrison its 27th straight loss.
Brayton Shannon carried the football 21 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns as Mount Vernon (Fortville) posted a 29-19 win over Kokomo. Tayler Persons threw for 175 yards (10-of-13) and one score and ran 15 times for 54 yards and two touchdowns for Kokomo.
Kirby Cox's 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown paved the way for Indianapolis Scecina's 29-19 win over Elwood. Sammy Mireles ran 20 times for 181 yards and one score for Elwood.
Drew Millibrooks had 12 rushes for 144 yards and two touchdowns in Indianapolis Marshall's 36-14 win over Bowman Academy.
Sam Fette threw for 243 yards and connected on touchdown passes to four different players in Lawrenceburg's 63-13 thrashing of South Dearborn. Konner Jackson rambled for 144 yards and two scores on 10 attempts, and Zach Stener added seven rushes for 123 yards and two tallies for the Tigers.
Tanner Love accounted for a pair of scores, helping Northridge post a 14-7 win over S.B. Adams. It was the first triumph for new Raiders' coach Tom Wogomon and also halted an eight-game regular season losing streak.
Junior Devin Cannady accumulated almost 200 total yards, good for four touchdowns, in Mishawaka Marian's 44-7 drubbing of DeKalb. Cannady ran 21 times for 111 yards and two scores and tossed for 157 yards and two tallies. Tyran Ottbridge racked up 104 yards on the ground and one score for the Knights.
Jeffrey Wooten ran for 230 yards and four touchdowns, helping Whiteland rally for a 47-32 win over S.B. Riley. Donnie Morgan Richards added two scores for the Warriors, who outscored Riley, 22-6, in the fourth quarter Daigien Morgan passed for 128 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 111 yards and two scores, and Thomas Capers rushed for 103 yards for the Wildcats.
Austin Hines tallied 257 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 35 attempts in Jeffersonville's 60-48 decision over Evansville Bosse. Hines scored three times at the end of the second quarter as the Red Devils rattled off 19 straight points to erase a 14-13 deficit. Isaiah Mack added two scores, and sophomore Jamal Britt threw for 170 yards and one score to lead Jeffersonville to its first season opening win since 1992. Ian Hunley paced the Bosse offense with 17 of 30 passing for 354 yards and four touchdowns to C.J. Howard, who finished 170 receiving yards.
Senior running back Tuwan Payton ran for 220 yards, including touchdown scampers of 69 and 67 yards, leading New Albany to a 28-0 blanking over visiting Providence. It was the Bulldogs' first win over Providence at Buerk Field since 1990 and only the second time they have won a home opener in the last nine years. The contest was marred by 23 penalty flags.
Davis Mattingly threw for four touchdowns as Louisville Male scored on its first six possessions to cruise to a 62-16 win over Floyd Central. Junior quarterback Colton Kimm threw for 120 yards, including a 79-yards scoring strike to junior running back Gaige Klingsmith, who finished with two scores for the Highlanders.
Mitchell Sandlin rushed 36 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns to lead visiting Madison to a 24-7 win over Charlestown. Kody Boles went 8 for 13 for 149 yards and a score as the Cubs' took advantage of two fumbles to avenge a 67-14 loss last season and snap Charlestown's 16-game regular season winning streak. The Pirates, ranked No. 6 in Class 3-A, were limited to eight first downs and 136 yards total offense.
Junior running back Markell Jones had five touchdown runs, three within a 3:48 span in the first quarter, helping Columbus East roll to a 49-21 win over Bloomington North. Jones finished with 16 carries for 253 yards.
Luke Johnson was 16-of-31 passing for 247 yards and three touchdowns as Southport rallied for a 21-16 win over Indianapolis Roncalli. Klayton Byrd tallied seven catches for 161 yards and one score, while Cardell Tucker added seven receptions for 51 yards and two tallies for the Cardinals. Christian Perry chipped in 25 rushes for 143 yards for Southport, and Colin McMannama ran 16 times for 129 yard to pace Roncalli
Ross Barr ran for a career-high 285 yards and five touchdowns in Franklin's 59-13 triumph over Seymour. The Grizzly Cubs finished with 555 offensive yards, all on the ground, to give new coach Adam Reese his first victory. Seymour quarterback Austin Sutton finished with 246 all-purpose yards and one touchdown. Sutton was 14-of-20 passing for 163 yards and one score to go along with 22 rushes for 84 yards, while Zach Schlatterer had five catches for 130 yards and one tally for the Owls.
Conner Smith was 17-of-22 through the air for 385 yards and six touchdowns, leading Perry Meridian to a 42-19 win against Greenwood. Daymeon Hamilton caught four passes for 153 yards and two scores, and JaQuan Keys hauled in five receptions for 114 yards and two tallies for the Falcons. Colin Timmons added two touchdown catches for Perry Meridian. Tanner Skeel tossed for 104 yards and one score, and John Gallman ran 15 times for 136 yards and one tally for Greenwood.
Carlos Fernandez threw three touchdown passes to TreQuan Barnett, helping East Chicago Central post a 36-12 win over Hammond. Fernandez was 8-of-16 for 146 yards, while Barnett had six catches for 102 yards. Martayveus Carter added 12 rushes for 143 yards and 6.5 tackles, and Patrick Shaw netted 10.5 tackles for the Cardinals.
Logan Beaman carried the football 12 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns as Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter raced to a 59-7 victory over Heritage Christian. Kyree Hollis chipped in four catches for 113 yards and three scores, while Jake Purichia was 9-of-14 for 164 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders rolled 544 total yards.
Ryan Wilson caught two touchdown passes to lead visiting Batesville to a 49-13 win over Jennings County. The Bulldogs finished with 283 yards rushing.
Junior quarterback Bryce Stancombe was 19-of-24 for 231 yards and four touchdowns as Bloomington South blanked Bedford North Lawrence, 35-0, to spoil the debut of new BNL coach Steve Weber. Keenan Franz added six receptions for 113 yards for the Panthers, who rewarded Bloomington South coach Mo Moriarity with his first win in his return.
Brad Graham and Bobby Haines tallied three touchdowns as Silver Creek exploded for a 46-30 win over Springs Valley. Brooks Howell was 12-of-15 passing for 233 yards for the visiting Dragons, who ran just 30 plays.
Junior quarterback Clay Brown tossed a school-record five touchdown passes as Brownstown Central rolled to a 74-0 win over Mitchell. Brown connected on 11-of-12 passes for 205 yards as the host Braves led 54-0 at the half.
Brett Balsmeyer ran 33 times for 110 yards and three touchdowns as host Paoli edged Salem, 29-20.
Toks Akinribade racked up 196 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 18 attempts, helping Brownsburg roll to a 49-28 win over McCutcheon. Jake Lambert passed and ran for scores for the Bulldogs. Blake Elming had 19 carries for 106 yards and two scores for the Mavericks.
Shakur Smith accounted for three touchdowns as Indianapolis Shortridge blanked Oldenburg Academy, 57-0. Smith ran for two scores and returned an interception for a third tally, while Gerald Garrett threw for two touchdowns for the Blue Devils.
Gavin Detraz was 7-of-13 for 172 yards and two touchdowns in Milan's 59-22 win over Northeastern. Devin Sykes ran for two scores for the Indians, who gave new coach Ed Wagner his first win. Joey Claypoole passed for two touchdowns and caught a pass for a third score, while J.J. Fleming added two touchdown receptions for Northeastern.
Nick Clark and Colton Waymire combined for more than 300 yards rushing and four touchdowns in Frankton's 36-28 win over Anderson Prep Academy. Clark had 30 carries for 298 yards and two scores, and Waymire chipped in 110 yards and two tallies on 16 attempts. De'Andre Patterson paced Anderson Prep with 14 carries for 213 yards and two scores to go along with 10 tackles. Tristen Anderson added 202 yards passing (4-of-8) and one score, while Austin Norris had 13.5 tackles for the Jets.
Chris Clemmons had 16 carries for 114 yards and one touchdown as Pendleton Heights took advantage of six turnovers in a 33-0 shutout of Muncie Central.
Jeremiah Fields was 15-of-22 for 159 yards and three touchdowns in Greenfield Central's 32-7 win over New Castle. Stephen Dickerson hauled in a pair of touchdown catches for the Cougars.
Running back Chase VanSchoyck carried the football 25 times for 321 yards and five touchdowns as North Central (Farmersburg) breezed to a 66-6 win over Union (Dugger).
Keiontre Wilkey tallied 194 yards and three touchdowns on 14 attempts in Rockville's 42-6 win over Seeger Memorial.
Evansville Harrison's Cory Brunson earned his first coaching victory as a result of the Warriors' 28-22 decision over West Vigo. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Hales was 14-of-23 passing for 171 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a third score for Harrison.
