INDIANAPOLIS –The 2017 Training Camp is a little more than two weeks away.
On Saturday, July 29, the Colts will report to work at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center, for their first Training Camp “at home” since moving to Indy in 1984.
Over the next week and a half, Colts.com will take a look at the "Burning Questions" for all position groups heading into the 2017 Training Camp.
Here's a look at the wide receiver and tight end burning questions with the 2017 season nearing:
- Will Donte Moncrief be able to take some pressure off of T.Y. Hilton?
As if there was any doubt, T.Y. Hilton cemented himself as one of the NFL's most dangerous receivers last season.
It's now time for the Colts' fellow wideouts to relieve some of the attention that will undoubtedly come Hilton's way.[
Moncrief knows this](http://www.colts.com/news/article-1/Slimmed-Down-Donte-Moncrief-Impresses-This-Offseason/946f1bdc-ddd1-48b9-9df3-456fc34eefeb) as he enters the final year on his rookie contract.
The Colts love what Moncrief showed this spring, which was a healthy offseason program for the 23-year-old wideout.
Down nine pounds, Moncrief is looking to add more explosion to his game once the ball finds his hands.
It's no secret the Colts have always been high on Moncrief. The 2017 season has the potential to be a breakout one, at exactly the right time, for the fourth-year receiver.
STAT TO NOTE: T.Y. Hilton ranks ninth in NFL history for most receiving yards after five seasons (5,861).
- Who will be the No. 3 wide receiver?
Ask this question in early March and the answer was Jacoby Brissett.
Ask this question in early May and the answer was some combination of Dorsett and newly signed Kamar Aiken.
Ask this question two weeks before Training Camp and Chester Rogers has added his name to the mix with Dorsett and Aiken.
Rogers, the second-year wide receiver out of Grambling, had an impressive spring, making him a real threat for the first look at playing time behind Hilton and Moncrief.
In Dorsett and Aiken, the Colts have players that lend to specific strengths. It's speed for Dorsett. It's power for the bigger Aiken.
But Rogers continues to offer consistent playmaking, while also providing return potential.
Offensive Coordinator Rob Chudzinski has options when filling out the depth chart at receiver this Training Camp.
STAT TO NOTE: In 2015, Kamar Aiken led the Baltimore Ravens in receiving (75 receptions for 944 yards).
- How ready is tight end Mo Alie-Cox for a starting-type role?
If you count the practice squad, the Colts have 10 players still around from their 2014 run to the AFC Championship game.
2014 was also the first year Erik Swoope had ever played the game of football.
Now, in his third year of football, and light years away from the practice squad, Swoope is a virtual starter playing alongside Jack Doyle.
The Colts see more signs of development in Swoope's game, hence the reason why they promoted him up the depth chart, after sending Dwayne Allen to New England earlier this offseason.
Swoope averaged 19.8 yards per catch last season, an astronomical number for a tight end.
More will be asked of him though as he climbs the depth chart ladder.
A weekly presence, one including more blocking tasks, is certainly on Swoope's to-do list as he writes another chapter on what's already been a crazy NFL story.
STAT TO NOTE: Jack Doyle's 78.7 catch percentage led all NFL tight ends last season.
