Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest icons — sports or otherwise — of the 20th century, died on Friday at a Phoenix-area hospital. He was 74 years old.

Ali's role as one of the greatest boxers of all-time played only a small part of his legendary status around the world. He was also a Civil Rights champion whose final fight — his 30-year battle against Parkinson's Disease — was perhaps the most notable of his entire life.
