INDIANAPOLIS —The Pro Bowl's reigning top receiver on the AFC side is coming back for more.
The National Football League today announced that Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has been named to the 2018 Pro Bowl, which will be played Sunday, Jan. 28, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Hilton is replacing Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green, who is unable to participate due to injury.
It's the fourth straight Pro Bowl selection for Hilton, who once again led the Colts in receiving in the 2017 season, as he played in and started all 16 games and totaled 57 receptions for 966 yards (16.9 yards per reception) and four touchdowns.
Despite working with a brand new quarterback in Jacoby Brissett the entire season, Hilton was still able to have the fourth-best yards-per-reception mark in the league, while his 11 receptions for 25-plus yards were tied for the seventh-most in the NFL.
"That's what they need me to do," Hilton said. "I'm a big-play guy, so for me it's just go out there, play my game and make the big plays. Normally when I make those plays, we win."
Hilton's right: in the Colts' four victories in 2017, he averaged more than five receptions for almost 130 yards and scored a combined three touchdowns.
In Week 9, Hilton earned his first-career AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor for his performance against the Houston Texans, when he caught five passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. The receiving yardage total was the third highest for a regular season game in his career. The performance marked his 27th career 100-yard receiving game and his seventh career multiple touchdown game.
Over his career, Hilton has compiled 10 career 150-plus-yard receiving games, which is tied for the fourth-most in a player's first six seasons in the NFL.
Hilton, who led the league in receiving yards last season (1,448), was also the AFC's leading receiver in last year's Pro Bowl, when he logged five catches for 58 yards, hauling in passes from all three quarterbacks in the AFC's 20-13 victory over the NFC.
"It feels great," Hilton said after that game. "We competed. The crowd was amazing. The crowd brought the energy and made us want to play even harder. … When you first get out there, everybody is trying to get warm, get used to each other. Then that second half, it really picks up. It was exciting getting a win."
Hilton's participation this year means the Colts will have been represented by at least one player in the Pro Bowl each year dating back to 1998.
The NFL today announced that Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has been named to the 2018 Pro Bowl. This is Hilton's fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection (2014-17).
