INDIANAPOLIS – The league's reigning leading receiver ranked No. 61 by his peers?
Call it a lack of respect for T.Y. Hilton after he finished the 2016 season as the NFL's top receiver.
Hilton was ranked No. 61 on the NFL’s Top 100 players list, voted on by players around the league.
Dive deeper into Hilton's numbers and the ranking is a major, major head scratcher.
In five NFL seasons, Hilton has 5,861 career receiving yards.
That's the ninth most in NFL history for any player through five years.
Guys like Moss and Rice are some of the names above Hilton, a list with plenty of current or future Canton-flavor.
For comparison's sake, let's look at Hilton's numbers next to Colts' greats Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.
Here are Hilton, Harrison and Wayne's numbers after five seasons:
-Hilton: 374 receptions, 5,861 yards, 30 TDs, 75.1 YPG
-Harrison: 413 receptions, 5,554 yards, 47 TDs, 73.1 YPG
-Wayne: 304 receptions, 4,164 yards, 28 TDs, 54. 1 YPG
Any way you slice it, Hilton is putting up numbers that could one day merit serious Hall of Fame consideration.
Ask Hilton about his sixth NFL season in 2017 and you'll get a guy focused on a little bit of everything.
"Leave no stone unturned," Hilton says. "I work on everything – footwork, speed work. Just continue to train everything – my hands, eye-hand coordination. Everything that I need to get better at."
Improve in those areas and maybe Hilton's peers will take more notice of "The Ghost."
