**Colts, Meijer, Andretti's Host Shopping Spree for
Local Youth
**
INDIANAPOLIS –On Monday, December 14, the Colts and
Meijer joined with Andretti Autosport to host 40 local kids from
the Dayspring Center at the Greenwood Meijer store. The kids
received a pizza party, compliments of Papa John's Pizza, as
well as a special holiday shopping experience.
Following the pizza party, Colts players Kyle DeVan, Ryan Diem, Ryan Lilja and Robert Mathis, as well as IZOD IndyCar Series driver Marco Andretti and Andretti Autosport team owner Michael Andretti assisted the children in selecting new clothes, shoes, toys and any other items on their holiday wish list. Each child was provided with a $200 Meijer gift card, compliments of Meijer, to purchase their items, as well as an additional $20 to select a toy to donate to another child in need through the Toys for Tots program.
This was the second year the Colts, Meijer and Andretti Autosport have teamed up for this holiday shopping event. Meijer is the Official Supercenter of the Indianapolis Colts and has supported several Colts outreach projects this year, including the SACKing Hunger Food Drive, Thanksgiving Shopping Trip and the Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers at Thanksgiving event.
Dayspring Center is a 501©3 non-profit organization that provides emergency shelter, clothing, and three nourishing meals-a-day for homeless families with children in Central Indiana. Families turn to Dayspring Center as a last resort; some to escape domestic abuse, others have experienced financial collapse, medical problems, or other crises that caused them to lose their home.
