Roster Reset: A Position-By-Position Look At The 2019 Colts Heading Into Training Camp

With the Indianapolis Colts’ 2019 offseason workout program now complete, we take a position-by-position look at the team’s roster as it focuses on the start of training camp next month.

INDIANAPOLIS — At this time last year, as the Indianapolis Colts were gearing up for the start of training camp, the storyline about the team's roster centered mostly on the unknown — particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

After a 10-win season that saw the Colts advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, most of those questions were answered.

But while several starters and key contributors on both sides of the ball, as well as on special teams, are set to return to the team in 2019, there are many newcomers that hope to shake things up a little bit by the time the Colts report to Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Ind., on July 24 for the start of training camp.

So with the Colts' 2019 offseason workout program now complete, it's a perfect time to reset and take a position-by-position look at the team's 90-man roster heading into camp (newcomers from last year's 90-man roster in italics):

OFFENSE

» Quarterbacks (4): Jacoby Brissett, Chad Kelly, Andrew Luck, Phillip Walker

NOTE: Of the 44 offensive players currently on the Colts' 90-man roster, 20 of them (46 percent) were not on the roster at this time last year. Of the 24 offensive players that are returning, four of them (Castonzo, Doyle, Hilton and Luck) remain from the team's 90-man roster from the first preseason game of the 2015 season.

NOTE: The Colts return their three core special teamers — Rhodes, Sanchez and Vinatieri — for a third straight season. Since Pat McAfee's rookie year in 2009, the team has had a total of nine players active for at least one regular season game at the kicker, punter and long snapper positions: Vinatieri (148 games), Matt Stover (10 games) and Shane Andrus (one game) at kicker; McAfee (127 games), Sanchez (32 games) and Jeremy Kapinos (one game) at punter; and Matt Overton (80 games), Justin Snow (48 games) and Rhodes (32 games) at long snapper.
