INDIANAPOLIS —The Indianapolis Colts today signed tight end Billy Brown to the practice squad and placed tight end Je'Ron Hamm on the Practice Squad Injured list.
Brown, 6-4, 255 pounds, spent time on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad this season. He participated in the Eagles' 2018 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 1. Brown spent the entire 2017 regular season and postseason on Philadelphia's practice squad. He originally signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2017.
Collegiately, Brown started 40-of-49 career games at Shepherd and set school records in receptions (249), receiving yards (4,071) and receiving touchdowns (43). In 2016, he garnered Division II All-America honors and was a First Team All-MEC selection after compiling 99 receptions for 1,580 yards and 22 touchdowns. Brown led Division II in receptions and ranked second nationally in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Hamm, 6-3, 236 pounds, was signed to the Colts practice squad on November 21. He participated in training camp with the Los Angeles Chargers before being waived during final cuts on September 1. Hamm was claimed by the Chargers off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on August 13, 2018 after spending part of training camp with the Seahawks. In 2016, he spent time on the San Francisco 49ers' active roster and practice squad. Hamm played in five games and caught two passes for 13 yards. He spent time on the Washington Redskins' active roster and practice squad in 2015 but did not see game action. Hamm finished the 2015 season with the 49ers. As a rookie in 2014, he spent time on the Washington Redskins' active roster and practice squad and saw action in one game. Hamm originally signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2014.
