INDIANAPOLIS —The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent defensive tackle Brandon Banks and waived-injured wide receiver Matt Hazel. If Hazel clears waivers, he will revert to the Colts Injured Reserve list.
Banks, 6-3, 267 pounds, spent time on the Washington Redskins' active roster and practice squad as a rookie in 2017. He saw action in one game and tallied one solo tackle. Banks originally signed with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017. Collegiately, he played in 45 games at North Carolina-Charlotte and finished with 132 tackles (76 solo), 13.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, eight passes defensed and one interception. Banks earned Honorable Mention All-Conference USA recognition as a senior in 2016.
Hazel, 6-1, 195 pounds, signed with Indianapolis as a free agent on August 12, 2018. He has appeared in nine career games (one start) in his time with the Cleveland Browns (2017), Colts (2017), Washington Redskins (2016), Buffalo Bills (2016) and Miami Dolphins (2014-15). In 2017, Hazel played in four games with Indianapolis.
