INDIANAPOLIS —The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent cornerback Juante Baldwin and waived-injured quarterback Brad Kaaya. If Kaaya clears waivers, he will revert to the Colts Injured Reserve list.
Baldwin, 5-11, 188 pounds, re-joins the Colts after being waived by the team on July 25, 2018. He was originally signed by Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on June 14, 2018. Baldwin participated on a tryout basis during the team's mandatory mini-camp before being signed. He also spent time in Kansas City on a tryout basis for the Chiefs' 2018 rookie mini-camp. Baldwin spent two seasons (2016-17) at Pittsburg State. In 2017, he started all 12 games and compiled 30 tackles (20 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss, three interceptions and one forced fumble. Baldwin redshirted the 2016 season after transferring from Friends University.
Kaaya, 6-4, 215 pounds, was signed to the Colts active roster from the Detroit Lions practice squad on December 27, 2017. He spent time on the Lions' active roster and practice squad last season. Kaaya also spent time on the Carolina Panthers active roster in 2017 but did not see game action. He was originally selected by Detroit in the sixth round (215th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Collegiately, Kaaya started all 38 career games he played in at Miami (FL) from 2014-16 and completed 720-of-1,188 passes for 9,968 yards with 69 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He finished his Hurricane career as the all-time passing leader in school history.
