Indianapolis –The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent wide receiver Kasen Williams and waived wide receiver DeAndre Smelter.
Williams, 6-1, 219 pounds, has played in 10 career games (two starts) and has totaled 10 receptions for 92 yards and one carry for five yards in his time with the Cleveland Browns (2017) and Seattle Seahawks (2015-16). He has also appeared in two postseason contests. Williams originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on June 15, 2015 out of Washington.
In 2017, Williams spent time on the Browns' active roster and practice squad. He saw action in seven games (two starts) and tallied nine receptions for 84 yards. Williams spent time on the Seahawks' active roster and practice squad in 2016 and appeared in one game. As a rookie in 2015, he spent time on the Seahawks' active roster and practice squad. Williams played in two games and caught one pass for eight yards. He also registered one carry for five yards. Williams also saw action in two postseason contests for Seattle.
Smelter, 6-2, 227 pounds, signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on January 17, 2018. He spent the last three seasons (2015-17) with the San Francisco 49ers. Smelter has played in two career games and has caught one pass for 23 yards.
