Indianapolis –The Indianapolis Colts today claimed defensive end Rakeem Nunez-Roches off waivers (from Kansas City) and waived outside linebacker Josh Perry.
Nunez-Roches, 6-2, 307 pounds, has played in 34 career games (16 starts) in three seasons (2015-17) with the Chiefs and has totaled 51 tackles (31 solo), 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He has also appeared in one postseason contest and has tallied one tackle. Nunez-Roches was originally selected in the sixth round (217th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Southern Miss.
In 2017, Nunez-Roches played in all 16 games (11 starts) for the first time in his career and compiled 24 tackles (13 solo) and half a sack. He spent time on Kansas City's active roster and practice squad in 2016. Nunez-Roches appeared in 11 games (five starts) and registered 23 tackles (14 solo), 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack. He saw action in one postseason contest and collected one tackle. As a rookie in 2015, Nunez-Roches appeared in seven games and finished with four solo tackles.
Perry, 6-4, 253 pounds, signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on January 1, 2018. He has played in 17 career games (one start) and has totaled 17 tackles (six solo), 1.0 tackle for loss, one forced fumble and nine special teams stops in his time with Indianapolis (2017) and the San Diego Chargers (2016). Perry spent time on the Colts' active roster and practice squad in 2017 and played in two games.
