INDIANAPOLIS — It's time for the Week 1 version of the 2019 Colts Rookie Watch, where we take a look at the stats and highlights to track the progress of each rookie on the Indianapolis Colts' roster.
So, without further ado, here we go (snaps by position provided by Pro Football Focus):
» Parris Campbell, wide receiver: Campbell, the Colts' second-round (59th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, logged 23 total snaps — 18 on offense and five on special teams — in the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. On offense, Campbell, who lined up as a slot receiver for 15 snaps and out wide for three snaps, had one reception for one yard, and one rushing attempt for seven yards. He was also the team's kick returner, logging two kickoff returns for 44 yards.
» Rock Ya-Sin, cornerback: Ya-Sin, the Colts' second-round (34th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, logged 50 total snaps — 42 on defense and eight on special teams — in the season opener against the Chargers. Ya-Sin mostly lined up out wide (40 snaps), but also played two snaps lined up in the slot, while also playing six snaps on kickoff coverage and one snap each with the kick and punt return units. In all, Ya-Sin collected two tackles against the Chargers.
» Khari Willis, safety: Willis, the Colts' fourth-round (109th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, logged 29 total snaps — 16 on defense and 13 on special teams — against the Chargers. Willis played 11 snaps at free safety, and also played five snaps lined up in the box, while also logging five snaps each on the kickoff coverage and return teams, two snaps with the punt coverage team and one snap with the punt return unit. In all, Willis collected two tackles against the Chargers.
» Marvell Tell III, cornerback: Tell III, the Colts' fifth-round (144th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, was inactive for last Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
» E.J. Speed, linebacker: Speed, the Colts' fifth-round (164th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, was inactive for last Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
» Ben Banogu, defensive end: Banogu, the Colts' second-round (49th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, logged 28 total snaps — 27 on defense and one with the field goal/extra point block unit — last Sunday in Los Angeles. Lined up exclusively left end, Banogu collected one tackle, 0.5 sacks and two quarterback hits against the Chargers.
» Bobby Okereke, linebacker: Okereke, the Colts' third-round (89th-overall) selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, logged 23 total snaps — 15 on defense and eight on special teams — against the Chargers. Okereke played 12 snaps in the box and three lined up in the slot, while he played five snaps on the kick return unit and three snaps on the punt coverage team. Okereke logged one tackle in his NFL debut.
» Hale Hentges, tight end: Hentges, who was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent on May 3, was inactive for last Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
