INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts (8-6) defeated the Dallas Cowboys (8-6), 23-0, in today's crucial Week 15 matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium. Here are the updates and highlights from today's game.
FOURTH QUARTER
— Injury Update: Defensive tackle Al Woods (leg) is QUESTIONABLE to return.
— 23-yard FG for Adam Vinatieri is good. Colts lead the Cowboys 23-0 with 6:57 left in the fourth quarter.
— Injury Update: Defensive tackle Al Woods (foot) is downgraded to OUT.
— Marlon Mack fumbles, and the Cowboys recover at the Indianapolis 35-yard line, putting the shutout in jeopardy for the Colts. But George Odum puts those worries to bed. The undrafted rookie picks off Dak Prescott — his first-career interception — and now the Colts hope to drain the rest of the clock. What a performance by this defense against one of the hottest offenses in the league coming in.
— That's a final. The Colts defeat the Cowboys, 23-0, to improve to 8-6 and stay alive in the playoff race. It's the first Colts shutout since 2014, and the first time Dallas has been shut out since 2003.
THIRD QUARTER
— Marlon Mack: 10 carries, 87 yards, 2 touchdowns today — and 11:23 remains in the third quarter. His six-yard touchdown run gives the Colts a 17-0 lead. Mack on that drive: four carries for 45 yards. This offense just goes to a completely different level when it can run the ball like this.
— At the end of the third quarter, the Colts lead the Cowboys, 20-0.
SECOND QUARTER
— The Cowboys have another promising drive, getting all the way inside the Colts' five-yard line. On 4th and 1 from the Indy 3-yard line, however, Ezekiel Elliott gets the handoff, but Margus "The Estonian Mountain" Hunt blows up the play, and stuffs the Cowboys' star running back, who fumbles (caused by Pierre Desir), which is recovered by Jabaal Sheard at the Indianapolis 5-yard line. Another great stand by this Colts defense.
— The Colts' defense answers the call again. On 3rd and 9 from the Indianapolis 37, Dak Prescott is sacked by Tyquan Lewis for a loss of 10 — the rookie's second sack of the ballgame, and second of his career. Great timing once again by the Ohio State product, and Dallas is punting for the first time all afternoon.
— Adam Vinatieri knocks down a 43-yard field goal, and the Colts go into halftime with a 10-0 lead.
FIRST QUARTER
— On the Cowboys' opening drive, they get stalled at the Indianapolis 30-yard line. Brett Maher's 48-yard field goal attempt is blocked by Denico Autry — the reigning AFC Defensive Player of the Week — and linebacker Darius Leonard (who had four tackles on the opening drive) recovers it and seems to return it 44 yards for a touchdown. A review shows Leonard was touched down at the Dallas 44, however. But still a terrific play to open things for Indy.
— Great opening drive for the Colts, and it's led by the run game against one of the league's top run defenses. Marlon Mack has five carries for 33 yards in all, and, on 3rd and Goal from the 1, he's able to punch it into the end zone. Touchdown, Colts. This one counts, too. Indy leads Dallas 7-0 with 6:09 left in the first quarter. It was an eight-play, 44-yard drive that took 3:46 off the Autry blocked field goal.
— Åt the end of the first quarter, the Colts lead the Cowboys, 7-0. Dallas is driving, however, facing 2nd and 6 from the Indianapolis 8-yard line.
