The Colts on Friday ruled out defensive end Genard Avery (foot) and linebacker Jaylon Carlies (fibula, shoulder) for their Week 8 game against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium.

Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (ankle) is listed as questionable. Buckner, who was limited on Wednesday and practiced in full on Thursday, was given a non-injury rest day Friday. The Colts still have to activate Buckner, who hasn't played since Week 2, from injured reserve before he can play.

Running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) did not carry a game status designation on the Colts' final practice report of Week 8, clearing the way for him to play Sunday against the Texans. Taylor was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice and fully participated on Thursday and Friday. He hasn't played since sustaining his ankle injury in the Colts' Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers; this week was the first time he participated in practice since that game.

Steichen said both Taylor and Buckner are "tracking very well" ahead of Sunday's game.

Carlies exited the Colts' Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins with his injury. Avery has appeared in one game this year, playing two snaps against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.
