Originally thought to be declared a no contest, the outcome of Fort Wayne Wayne's home game with South Bend Riley will now be decided by the IHSAA. The Generals led 14-7 when the game was halted at halftime because of inclement weather. Riley didn't want to continue the game on Saturday even after Fort Wayne offered to travel to South Bend.
Friday's stormy weather created havoc around the state with several contests being cancelled, including Franklin Central-Indianapolis Roncalli, Decatur Central-New Palestine, and Whiteland-Kokomo.
The windy weather also caused issues at Center Grove as a strong wind gust caused a set of bleachers to crash into and collapse one of the goal posts. Luckily, no one was injured as the stands had already been evacuated. The contest was declared official at halftime with the Trojans registering a 28-14 win over Carroll (Fort Wayne) in a rematch of the 2022 Class 6A state championship game.
Evansville Central had its 24-game losing streak snapped with a 15-14 win over Evansville Bosse.
Hanover Central saw its 25-game regular season winning streak come to an end with a 28-7 loss at two-time defending Class 3A state champion Indianapolis Bishop Chatard.
Two-time defending Class 4A state champ East Central's 22-game winning streak ended with a 35-28 loss to Harrison (Ohio).
Clinton Central dedicated its 68-0 win over Faith Christian to 14-year-old player Mikal Simmons, who was injured in a car accident earlier last week.
Kyler Purdin takes over at Union City after Keith Maloy was named the school's athletic director. Purdin, a 2018 graduate, spent the previous four seasons as an assistant with the Indians.
Elkhart's Londyn Johnson registered a program-best three interceptions, including one returned 60 yards for a touchdown, in the Lions' 21-6 win over Northridge.
