Colts, Huntington Bank Provide Special Training Camp
Experience for Youth
INDIANAPOLIS – Saturday, August 8, proved to be an early morning for 23 youngsters from the John H. Boner Community Center in Indianapolis, Ind. By 7:30 a.m. they were loaded up on a school bus heading out to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. For all of the youth, this was going to be their first visit to the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp. And what a visit it proved to be.
Through a partnership with Huntington Bank and their Huntington Heroes program, the Colts and Head Coach Jim Caldwell provided a special VIP Training Camp Experience for these children. Upon arrival, the group was escorted to a special viewing area where they watched the team's morning scrimmage at Cook Stadium. Immediately following practice the players stopped by to greet the youth and sign autographs. Coach Caldwell and Blue also came over to welcome the group, pose for photos and greet everyone.
After enjoying lunch in Colts City, the students loaded back up on the bus to enjoy the trip back to Indianapolis. This special opportunity was used as an incentive for students who participated in the John H. Boner Community Center's summer programming. Students who exhibited good behavior during the summer had the opportunity to be a part of the Huntington Heroes experience.
This is the first year Huntington and the Colts have partnered to present Huntington Heroes, a program designed to provide a VIP Training Camp experience for youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to watch the Colts practice. As a part of the program, the Colts and Huntington provided transportation to and from training camp, t-shirts, goodie bags and lunch for each of the children.
Huntington is the Official Bank of the Indianapolis Colts and has partnered with the team on several community initiatives, including the Jolly Jingle Bell Bash, a holiday party for youth, over the years.
