Houston would manufacture 13 unanswered points to enter halftime with a 13-3 lead.
The Texans added their third field goal of the game early in the third quarter before the Colts orchestrated a six-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in an 18-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Andrew Luck to running back Frank Gore to bring the score to 16-10.
Houston padded their lead with another field goal early in the final frame.
Luck then constructed an eight-play, 83-yard drive that concluded with a 35-yard touchdown throw to wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.
The Colts attempted a late rally after the Texans' fifth field goal conversion brought the game to 22-17. With 1:24 left, Indianapolis' fourth down conversion was thwarted as Houston earned their first season sweep of the Colts in franchise history.
