The Indianapolis Colts will host the Detroit Lions in its 2016 regular season opener. The game time is set for 4:25 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The contest will mark the 42nd all-time meeting between the teams in the regular season, with the Colts holding a 21-18-2 advantage. Indianapolis defeated Detroit, 35-33, in their last matchup on Dec. 12, 2012 at Ford Field.
Last week, the Colts traveled to Cincinnati to face the Bengals in their preseason fi nale.
After a scoreless first half, Cincinnati put the fi rst points on the board with a field goal early in the third quarter.
Kicker Adam Vinatieri connected on a 46-yard fi eld goal in the third quarter and made a 38-yard attempt in the fourth quarter to give Indianapolis a 6-3 lead.
The Colts faced a 10-6 deficit with 1:55 left in the game. Quarterback Stephen Morris (20-of-30 passing for 217 yards, one touchdown and one interception) orchestrated a nine play, 75-yard drive that resulted in a 25-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tevaun Smith for a touchdown to regain the lead at, 13-10.
On the ensuing possession, cornerback Christopher Milton recorded an interception to give Indianapolis their second win of the preseason.
