Fourth-Round Pick Grover Stewart Signs Rookie Contract With Colts

Intro: On Thursday, the Colts had two 2017 draft picks sign their rookie contracts. After S-Malik Hooker signed his deal first, DT-Grover Stewart also inked his rookie contract.

INDIANAPOLIS – A few minutes after Malik Hooker put pen to paper on his rookie deal, fourth-round pick Grover Stewart followed suit on Thursday afternoon.

Stewart was impressive at last weekend's rookie minicamp, showcasing some pass rushing ability at 347 pounds.

The Division II product was taken with the 144th overall pick in Round Four of last month's draft.

With Stewart officially signed, just OLB-Tarell Basham (third-round pick) is the lone 2017 Colts' draftee yet to sign his rookie contract.

Stewart, 6-4, 347 pounds, was selected by the Colts in the fourth round (144th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played in 39 games (19 starts) at Albany State and compiled 141 tackles (90 solo), 35.5 tackles for loss, 27.0 sacks, five passes defensed and two forced fumbles. Stewart earned First Team SIAC All-Conference honors all four years with the Golden Rams.

In 2016, Stewart started all nine games and tallied 37 tackles (26 solo), 12.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble. He started all 10 games in 2015 and recorded 29 tackles (19 solo), 15.0 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks and one pass defensed. In 2014, Stewart played in 10 games and made 39 tackles (24 solo) and 7.5 sacks. He appeared in 10 games as a freshman in 2013 and compiled 36 tackles (21 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble. Stewart was also a member of the Albany State men's track and field team for three years, competing in the shot put and discus. The team won the 2014 SIAC Championship.
