INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts are proud to announce the first two "Anthem Angels" for the 2009-2010 season: Jamal Abdullah and Carolyn Lindley.

Jamal Abdullah, nominated by his wife, Trenna Abdullah, has been a dedicated member of the Indianapolis Metro Police Department for twenty-one years.

In addition to protecting our community he formed a program called, Jamal Abdullah's Martial Arts. This program is designed to build awareness, accountability, dependability, leadership, confidence and respect in our youth and the community they live in. This program reaches out to disadvantaged families and at-risk youth in Marion County. Jamal's primary goal is to help prepare students to live, work and be educated in a world that is increasingly competitive.

Carolyn Lindley, nominated by her daughter, Patty Lindley, has been a beneficial member of her community as a loyal volunteer.

Carolyn Lindley spends the majority of her time working to benefit her community. The last four years, she has mad three trips to Mississippi to help those still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. She also works year-round at Washington County Food Bank, stocking and filling food boxes for those in need. She has had a key role in organizing food drives and collecting school supplies for local children through her church. Carolyn's positive and cheerful outlook is inspirational to those around her as she works to better her community.

In honor of Jamal and Carolyn's heroism, they each received four (4) VIP Club Seat Tickets a Colts game, a feature story with their photo in the Colts gameday magazine (the Scout), as well as on-field recognition at the game.

"Anthem Angels…Honoring Everyday Heroes" was established by the Indianapolis Colts and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to pay tribute to Hoosier "First Respondents" who may have received little or no recognition for the strides they have made to help others in human-service related professions.

Nominations are still being accepted for upcoming 2009 home games. For more information about Anthem Angels, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, please visit www.colts.com/anthemangels.
