INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts are proud to announce the first "Anthem Angel" of the 2011-2012 season: Tom Smith.
Tom Smith, nominated by Debbie Meyer of Erin's House for Grieving Children, volunteered over 300 hours of his time last year to support children who lost a loved one.
Tom has been a volunteer facilitator for the past six years at Erin's House for Grieving Children, an organization that provides support services for children, teens and their families, who have suffered the death of a loved one. At Erin's House angels are discussed on a daily basis, and Erin's House believes Tom is their angel. Tom has supported countless children that are going through the journey of grief and has become a favorite among the children. Tom also volunteers every year to assist with Erin's House's Camp Good Grief. This is just another example of how Tom selflessly lends a helping hand by facilitating and leading a support group for grieving children.
In honor of Tom's outstanding service, he received four (4) VIP Club Seat Tickets the Colts vs. Browns game, a feature story with their photo in the Colts gameday magazine (the Scout), as well as on-field recognition at the game.
"Anthem Angels…Honoring Everyday Heroes" was established by the Indianapolis Colts and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to pay tribute to Hoosier "First Respondents" who have gone above the call of duty in human-service related professions.
