Auditions began May 9th with a couple hundred hopefuls. After the two rounds of cuts held that day, more were made in the ensuing weeks.
"Since they made it through the first round we have been teaching them the numbers they will do in the showcase and making cuts along the way," said Cheerleader Coordinator Theresa Pottratz.
"The girls that perform tonight have survived four cuts."
The aspiring cheerleaders were judged on three categories: dance, swimwear, and evening wear.
"We look at their dance ability. In swimwear we look for fitness," continued Pottratz.
"In evening wear we look at poise, gracefulness, and how they carry themselves down the runway."
There were six judges at the event including representatives from the presenting sponsors of the Colts Cheerleaders – Sun Tan City and Tyler Mason.
Last year was the first time the final runway event was held.
"It is really stressful because after they're done with everything they just have to wait," said Pottratz.
"The show went really well last year. Even the girls that didn't make it said it was a fun event."
The new squad members will get a short break before jumping right back in. They get Thursday, normally a practice day, off. But Sunday is Makeover Day.
"Tyler Mason starts deciding on what to do with their hair this Thursday," said Pottratz. "Next Thursday is Make-up Day where the rookies will learn how to do their make-up."
