INDIANAPOLIS -- The NFL today announced that Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 17. This marks the first time Davis has earned the award in his career.
In the regular season finale against Houston, Davis tied a career high with two interceptions. The interceptions were Davis' second and third of the year. In addition, he added five solo tackles and three passes defensed in the game.
For the season, Davis started all 10 games he appeared in and recorded 53 tackles (40 solo), eight passes defensed, three interceptions and one sack. For his career, he has tallied 195 tackles (166 solo), 40 passes defensed, 12 interceptions and two sacks.
Davis gives the Colts their sixth AFC Player of the Week award this season. The other recipients include:
