Meals on Wheels and More - For the third straight year, former Texas Longhorn and current Indianapolis Colt, Cory Redding, will fight hunger in Austin by covering the costs to feed the elderly this holiday season. Meals on Wheels and More seeks to nourish and enrich the lives of the homebound and other people in need through programs that promote dignity and independent living. Many of the non-profit's clients must regularly choose between paying rent, buying medications or purchasing groceries. Meals on Wheels and More helps the elderly in Austin by delivering hot meals, and other services, right to their doorsteps. "Continuing to stay involved in the Austin community is extremely important to me and my family. Austin was very good to me while I was in school and we are blessed to be returning there upon my retirement from the NFL," Redding says.
Cory and Priscilla Redding Family Scholarship – In April of 2012, Redding and his wife, Priscilla, announced their donation of $100,000 to establish the Cory and Priscilla Redding Family Scholarship in UT's College of Education. The gift is the university's first from an ex-UT athlete while he is still playing in the National Football League. Redding has continued to support the fund by raising an additional $20,000 for the fund and the family is proud to announce the notification of their first two scholarship recipients: a freshman from Houston, TX majoring in Applied Learning and Development working on elementary teacher certification and a freshman from Campbell, TX pursuing Athletic Training.
