Colts lose home opener 27-19

FOURTH QUARTER UPDATE

The Colts defense held following a turnover to force a Cleveland field goal with 10:57 left.

Indianapolis held on a first-and-goal from its four-yard line.  Cleveland, 17-12.

THIRD QUARTER UPDATE

The Colts defense forced a punt near the end of the quarter as the Colts trail, 14-12.

Vinatieri hit a 36-yard field goal eight minutes into the quarter to cut the margin to 14-12.  The drive was started by a fumble recovery by DB-Antoine Bethea.

SECOND QUARTER UPDATE

Cleveland had touchdown drives of 55 and 80 yards and leads at the half, 14-9.

K-Adam Vinatieri hit a 52-yard field goal to put the Colts ahead, 9-7.  It was the club's third 10-play scoring drive of the half.

Tickets distributed to the game:  65,035.

K-Adam Vinatieri added a 27-yard field goal 45 seconds into the period to go along with his 39-yarder in the first quarter.  The scoring drive was 10 plays and 78 yards, featuring an 18-yard run by rookie RB-Delone Carter and 19- and 20-yard receptions by WR-Reggie Wayne.

FIRST QUARTER UPDATE

Dwight Freeney had a sack-fumble on Cleveland's second possession on a third-and-two in Indianapolis territory to force a punt.  It was Freeney's 95th career sack.

Pat McAfee's first kickoff resulted in a touchback.

The Colts moved 67 yards on 10 plays on the opening drive.  RB-Joseph Addai rushed for 15 yards on the drive and three different players had receptions from QB-Kerry Collins.

Indianapolis won the coin toss and elected to receive.   Cleveland will defend the north goal.
