The Indianapolis Colts today signed wide receiver Matt Hazel to the practice squad and released cornerback Taurean Nixon from the practice squad.
Hazel, 6-1, 195 pounds, has spent time on the Colts' active roster and practice squad this season. He was originally claimed by Indianapolis off waivers (from Washington) on September 3, 2017. Hazel saw action in three games for the Colts this season and caught one pass for one yard. He has appeared in eight career NFL games (one start) in his time with Indianapolis (2017), Washington (2016), the Buffalo Bills (2016) and the Miami Dolphins (2014-15).
Nixon, 5-10, 187 pounds, was signed to Indianapolis' practice squad on December 4. He has played in two career NFL games and has tallied one tackle. Nixon spent time on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad earlier this season. He spent time on the Denver Broncos' active roster and practice squad in 2015 and 2016. Nixon was originally selected by the Broncos in the seventh round (251st overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Tulane.
