Colts Re-Sign Quarterback Josh Johnson, Release Final Injury Report Before Houston

Intro: The Colts concluded a walk-through on Wednesday before boarding a plane for Houston. What did the final injury report look like ahead of Thursday night’s contest with the Texans?

INDIANAPOLIS – The "Luck Watch" has reached the same level as last week.

On Wednesday morning, the Colts signed Josh Johnson back to the active roster, giving the Colts three quarterbacks heading into a game, the same number they had last Sunday.

The team previously released Johnson on Monday after he was the backup against the Jaguars.

The re-signing of Johnson is definitely an insurance move with the uncertainty of Andrew Luck's shoulder and the health of Matt Hasselbeck, who was sick and missed Tuesday's practice.

So, for the second straight week, the Colts will carry three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, a very rare number in the Luck era.

Here is the final injury report of Texans week:

  • OUT: ILB-Jerrell Freeman (groin), RB-Tyler Varga (concussion), ILB-Bjoern Werner (hamstring)

-Freeman exited Sunday after three snaps and Josh McNary filled in at inside linebacker. I would expect McNary to get the starting nod on Thursday.

  • QUESTIONABLE: S-Mike Adams (neck), DT-Henry Anderson (foot), CB-Vontae Davis (foot), QB-Matt Hasselbeck (illness), QB-Andrew Luck (right shoulder)

-The Colts have already ruled out three players for Sunday, and now they will have five players that appear to be game-time decisions. Davis did not practice all week. Adams and Hasselbeck were full participants on Wednesday. Luck and Anderson were limited.

  • PROBABLE: TE-Dwayne Allen (ankle), RB-Frank Gore (foot), DE-Kendall Langford (back), CB-Greg Toler (neck)

-Toler will make his 2015 regular season debut on Thursday night. Toler's return is key with the Colts placing Jalil Brown (groin) on injured reserve to make room for Johnson. Allen will be back on the field after injuring his ankle against the Jets in Week Two.
