The Colts on Wednesday opened defensive end Tyquan Lewis' 21-day practice window to be activated from injured reserve, head coach Shane Steichen said.
Lewis will begin participating in practice immediately and can be activated from injured reserve at any point in the next three weeks. Steichen said the Colts will conduct a walkthrough on Wednesday instead of practice, just like they did last week, due to the team's late bye week (Week 14).
Lewis has been on injured reserve since Oct. 1, following the Colts' Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in which Lewis sustained an elbow injury. Lewis started all four games he has played this season, totaling 17 tackles (10 solo), 1.5 sacks and three quarterback hits. He recorded a single-game high of six tackles in Week 1 against the Houston Texans.
In his first six seasons in the NFL, Lewis compiled 95 tackles (67 solo), 26 tackles for loss 13.5 sacks, 10 passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble in 65 games. He was selected by the Colts in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
