On Tuesday, Nov. 15, the Colts and the Avon Meijer store worked with Sheltering Wings, a local shelter for mothers and children fleeing domestic violence, to give ten moms a Thanksgiving shopping spree.
As a part of the event, each mom received a $200 gift card, compliments of Meijer and the Colts, to purchase groceries, household supplies, personal care products, clothes and other items their families need. While the ladies had the evening to shop at their leisure, their children did a variety of crafts with Colts OT Mike Tepper and DT Ollie Ogbu.
Since the Thanksgiving Shopping event was started four years ago, the Colts and Meijer have treated forty moms to shopping sprees and provided $8,000 in gift cards. Meijer is the Official Supercenter of the Indianapolis Colts and annually supports a variety of the team's community programs including the SACKing Hunger Food Drive, Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers at Thanksgiving and the Holiday Shop with a Colt event.
