Colts Make Roster Moves At Wide Receiver

Intro: On Monday, the Colts signed free agent wide receiver Chris Briggs and waived-injured wide receiver Trey Griffey. If Griffey clears waivers, he will revert to the Colts Injured Reserve list.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts have signed free agent wide receiver Chris Briggs and waived-injured wide receiver Trey Griffey. If Griffey clears waivers, he will revert to the Colts Injured Reserve list.

Briggs, 6-5, 220 pounds, signed a reserve/future contract with the Seattle Seahawks on January 19, 2017 and was waived on May 9.

Collegiately, Briggs played in 10 games (nine starts) at Southeastern Louisiana in 2015 and finished with 11 receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns. He sat out the 2014 season due to NCAA Transfer rules. Prior to Southeastern Louisiana, Briggs spent three seasons (2011-13) at Southern Mississippi. He appeared in 31 games (one start) for the Golden Eagles and compiled 26 receptions for 368 yards and one touchdown. In 2013, Briggs saw action in 11 games (one start) and caught four passes for 71 yards. He appeared in 10 games in 2012 and tallied 11 receptions for 144 yards. As a true freshman in 2011, Briggs played in 10 games and caught 11 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown.

Griffey, 6-2, 209 pounds, was signed by Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2017. He participated in the Colts three-day rookie mini-camp. Griffey played in 44 games (18 starts) at Arizona and compiled 79 receptions for 1,241 yards and six touchdowns.
