The Indianapolis Colts Traveled to Muncie for Make It
Personal Stop
For Jonathan Owens of Muncie, Indiana, Colts games are an all day event. One of Jonathan's game day traditions includes a game of corn hole; a game played with eight beanbags and two wooden planks with one hole cut in each. Since Jonathan played the game frequently, he decided to make his own custom set so he could show his support for the Colts.
Jonathan quickly figured out how to make his own set, and found a friend, Kurt Clevenger, who specializes in custom airbrushing to do the artwork. Jonathan and Kurt came up with a special Indianapolis Colts design to put on the wooden planks.
One custom set of Jonathan's was on display at Monday's Make It Personal stop in Muncie. He brought a custom Colts set of his to be autographed by Colts defensive tackle Daniel Muir and tight end Justin Snow.
"I decided to make myself a set because I play a lot and I just wanted something different," said Jonathan. "I made a Colts set because the Colts are my favorite team and I wanted to show my support for them every time I play, not just on game days. This is actually the second Colts set I've made; we had a custom order for a set a few weeks ago."
Jonathan makes each set from scratch, and the entire set takes about three days to build, airbrush, and complete. He has already had several custom orders come in, but says his favorite ones to make are the Colts sets.
"I enjoy making Colts sets the most," said Jonathan. "Making a set designed to show off your favorite team is much more fun than making a set to display another design."
Making the custom sets is a hobby that Jonathan enjoys. He hopes to expand the hobby and sell more of his sets, but he is already impressed with his sales. Jonathan sold ten sets in two weeks, and is in the process of taking orders for more.
