On Thursday, November 24, 2016, the Indianapolis Colts teamed up with Meijer, the Official Supercenter of the Colts, and Bullseye Event Group to host the eleventh annual SACKing Hunger Food Drive benefitting Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc. Prior to the Steelers game from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., volunteers collected canned/non-perishable food items along with monetary donations from Colts fans at the Colts Community Collection Stations, presented by Toyota, located outside each Lucas Oil Stadium gate. The collection proved to be a success as 7,013 meals and over $2,000 were donated by fans on Thanksgiving night.
All donations will benefit Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, an organization that stores and redistributes donated food to more than 350 hunger relief agencies serving Indiana's impoverished households. Fans who donated on Thursday received a limited edition poster featuring Colts defensive players, Akeem Ayers, D'Qwell Jackson, Edwin Jackson, Robert Mathis, Josh McNary, Antonio Morrison and Erik Walden.
Additionally, fans who were not in attendance can make monetary donations through Gleaners' Text-to-Give program. Text FEEDING to 27722 to give $10 to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. Message and data rates may apply. Fans are encouraged to show support for the Colts Gameday Collection Program and Gleaners Food Bank by utilizing social media. Fans may tag @ColtsCommunity on Twitter and Instagram or 'Colts in the Community' on Facebook.
The Colts Gameday Collections program will continue to run throughout the 2016 season with a different charitable collection held prior to each home game. The final collection of the 2016 season will be Angel Tree Toy Collection. Please visit www.colts.com/collections to view the list of collections that were held this season.
