Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones on Wednesday was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3.
In the Colts' 21-16 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Jones recorded his first career interception in the second quarter, kickstarting a touchdown drive that put the Colts up 7-0. In the third quarter, Jones snagged his second career interception with a one-handed grab along the sideline, employing some "toe-drag swag" to make sure he got both feet in bounds.
Jones also tallied five tackles (four solo) and one tackle for loss during Sunday's game.
This is the first time the second-year cornerback has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Jones is currently one of two players across the NFL to record two interceptions in the same game this season, and is the 57th player in Colts history to do so. The last Colts player to have two interceptions in a game was cornerback Kenny Moore II in Week 9 of the 2023 season, when he became the first player in Colts history to have two pick-sixes in a game. Moore was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for that performance; he was the last Colts player to earn AFC Defensive Player of the Week before Jones.
Through three games this season, Jones now has 20 tackles (13 solo), two tackles for loss, three passes defensed and two interceptions.
