INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts are proud to announce Keith Grant, the Principal of Indian Creek Elementary School and high school wrestling coach, as a 2016 honoree of the Colts Anthem Angels program, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Grant will be recognized at the Colts home game this Sunday, December 11, 2016.
When Keith Grant was in third grade, he knew he wanted to work in education after the influence his teacher had on him. Grant currently serves as the Principal of Indian Creek Elementary in Trafalgar, Indiana. He is also a member of the high school varsity wrestling coaching staff, and a moderator for the elementary school wrestling club.
Jackson, the son of Grant's nominator, went to the school's summer wrestling camp, moderated by Grant. His parents saw how much he enjoyed the sport and with the encouragement from Grant, Jackson has joined the wrestling club at Indian Creek. "Mr. Keith Grant has gone above and beyond to make sure my son can participate in activities and athletics with his peers," said his nominator, who has a kindergartener at Indian Creek with vision and motor skill limitations.
Grant patiently works with Jackson at practice by verbally reviewing the moves to help him learn the skills and drills that other children pick up more quickly. If Grant isn't at practice, he ensures that Jackson has a "wrestling buddy" to work with in the same manner at practice. He believes that wrestling helps students with motor coordination, teamwork and discipline.
"I am just a small cog in this machine that's goal is to help children in school," stated Grant. For Keith Grant's unwavering dedication to the students of Indian Creek Elementary, we are pleased to honor him as our Anthem Angel.
Grant will receive four (4) VIP Club Seat Tickets to the Colts game, a feature story with his photo in the Colts gameday magazine (the Scout) and on www.colts.com, as well as on-field recognition at the game.
