INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts are proud to announce Allison Watters, a Nashville, Ind. resident, as a 2015 honoree of the Colts Anthem Angels program, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Watters will be recognized at the Colts home game this Sunday, October 25, 2015, for her outstanding contributions to the community.
Watters has played a special role in one of the most memorable nights of high school for young women in her community. Every spring she holds the Brown County Glass Slipper Event to provide prom dresses and accessories to students at no cost. Allison started the event in 2007 with 3 volunteers and 140 dresses, and was able to provide 25 girls from Brown County with prom attire. The event has grown to include 150 volunteers and 2,400 dresses in 2014, providing 300 girls from all over the State of Indiana a dress for prom night.
Allison brings in volunteer stylists to instruct the girls on how to do their hair and makeup, which can be recorded for a personalized step-by-step tutorial. In addition, volunteer seamstresses are present to recommend alterations to each dress as needed. Through Allison's continued efforts and donations from the community, the event has expanded to offer shoes, jewelry, and purses to young women for prom night.
